Small Shimano parts avaliable?
Today I tried to put a HG cassette on a Dura Ace FH-7403hub, which has a HG/UG compatible body. Since I bought my wheelset on the Internet, I didn't notice the hub had been put together incorrect, so while trying to fit the locknut for the HG cassette, a small ring inside the body broke apart as it was mounted the wrong way around .... It is marked as nr. 13 in the picture below.
Can I get such a ring at my Shimano dealer? Of does anyone have one lying around?

Your best bet might be to find a similar freehub body. However there are some differences between Dura Ace HG up to and including 8 speeds and regular Shimano SIS components, so be careful as you search. For instance this one on USA Ebay. Best of luck!

Those dust shields seem to be one of the few parts on a bike that are so prone to damage or self destruction that they could be considered consumable. Id say their trashed on 20 % of the 7 speed wheels I've rebuilt and the hub box at the co-op show an archaeology of ruin and pillage. That's where I would look.

I have a 7403 rear hub I'd be happy to sell you for cheap (the pawls are skanky and one race is bad) but not sure how that seal comes out. Is it threaded in there?

Thanks for all your replies. The seal is pressed in the hub, you can carefully take it out with a smal hook.

Someday when I grow up, I'll buy a bearing extractor to pull these.

That will not work my friend, a bearing puller usually clamps on the outside. This one has to be clamped on the inside.

Good opportunity for someone with a 3D printer. It’s not a structural part, it just needs to snap in there and stay put.

A person could measure ID, OD, and thickness and probably find a seal to replace it.
I did that on my 84 Gran Prix that had actual rubber seals on the hubs and BB. Brought them to a bearing house, measured them up, and they found stuff close enough for my purposes.
