Goodbye March, good riddance
Today is my last commute in March because tomorrow is a holiday. Normally March is a welcome relief after the winter, but this year it has been just as cold as January (actually colder than the first two weeks of the year). This has been one of my toughest months for bike commuting since I started 6 years ago. Temperatures have been running consistently 10-20 degrees colder than normal all month with relentless winds. Around here the wind swirls a lot, so you can't count on getting tailwind after battling a headwind and then making a turn. Most days, I have been battling headwinds and crosswinds on both legs of my commute. The wind has had one positive side effect -- I've lost about 4 lbs since the beginning of the month and totally wiped out my annual holiday weight gain -- but hopefully April will be more forgiving.

You're so lucky! March hasn't been any sort of relief from Winter here in the Midwest! I'm still waiting for the latest foot of snow to melt!

Agreed... It has been a brutal March.
Today, I am taking my first "outdoor ride" of the spring here in Michigan. It should be a balmy 39 degrees for my commute home tonight and I will take it with a smiling face.

March was a bear but then again so was January and Febuary up here in MN. Normally, like you, we expect March to be a bit more friendly. It's going to hit 50 today here so I might just do 50 on my road bike. No work for me. My last commute of this elongated winter was last Friday. Nice to know things will be more typical as of late. High of 36 on Monday April 1st for my next commute. I leave at 0530 so I'm sure it'll be in the low 20's. Whatever.

I've commuted more this month than I did all of last year. I actually prefer the cold. I'm less likely to get sweaty on my way to work. However, I am ready for some 60 degree weather to put in some long rides in the afternoon. I just dont own the gear to ride in sub 50 degree weather for longer than an hour.

worst march i can ever remember here in chicago. so cold, and worst of all so damn windy! waking up on march 18th and the weather conditions are 16 degrees with a windchill of 4, it's just not right! this week it finally got a little bit warmer (though still stupidly windy). unfortunately, the forecast for the next week looks like we're gonna be getting a bit colder for the 1st week of april.
hey winter, F--- OFF already!

+1. We've had a solid month of melt-and-refreeze with the occasional snow here, so it's been as treacherous as any other part of winter.

Up north it's been okay, I was able to ride 12 days out of 16 this month.
From what I've seen on the weather forecast you guys down south had more cold and snow than we did this winter.
I'm fine with that!

My other passion is downhill skiing so I liked this march (like I really liked it - best ever). I'm up here in MN and we got a lot of snow and a lot of cold - perfect. My perfect weather would be 15F from Nov 1 through 4/1 then 78F for the rest of the time.

I enjoyed my ride in today in the sun knowing it wasn't as cold out as the weather ap said it was, and knew I'd only be able to enjoy it for a little while.

Its been traditional winter since January here. Not that much snow, a couple blizzards and then just small storms. It was seasonably cold throughout the winter. Spring has arrived now and the studded tires will be changed to slicks and the clipless pedals are to be reinstalled.

Despite California being fiscally irresponsible, and whacky about 99% of the time, there are some advantages to have 60-70 degree weather every day.

Let the church say, AAAAAAAAMEN! March was cold wet & nasty here in south Jersey. Can't wait to break out the shorts & tees & ditch my heavy winter parker.

It's actually been a fairly mild March in my neck of the PNW. I'm actually pretty worried - we didn't have as much rain as usual, and that usually means a bad forest fire season in the summer and fall.
