New frameset, what is this hose for?

I purchased a 2016, S Works, Tarmac Sl 5 frameset. Brand new, in the box. It came with a box of parts. Some rubber plugs, a optional derailleur hanger, heaset, etc. Also in the box is a piece of rubber hose about 18" long, (edit: .5" diameter with . 25" diameter hole. ) made of like a foam type of rubber. I have everything accounted for except this hose . What is it for? Anyone know?

Maybe this is obvious to someone. If not, what is the diameter?

Good point, it's about .5" outer , .25" inner. I'll add this to the original post. Thank you

Sounds like some sort of cable casing covering, about the correct ID for a casing to slide into and might be cut for fit. Perhaps tp protect the paint from casing rub? Andy

Just thinking out loud here but, what are the chances it goes inside the frame around the rear brake hose to dampen rattle?
Quite a bit of clatter from the hose just laying inside that space. I believe that's where I'm using it.

seems like a ton of hose for a tarmac brake cable.... the weight alone would be something a picky peter would complain about.

I would guess it's for replacing cables. Often frames with internal routing come with a length of hose to use as a tool of sorts.
