There's nothing in the wording of either warranty excluding abuse.
Gotta wonder why this was done, however. Yes, you get the leverage, but you get the same slipping a cheater pipe over the wrench. It doesn't make the head any stronger. And yes, I broke the open-end on a 15mm Craftsman ('80s US made chrome vanadium) combo on a particularly recalcitrant pedal. That's when I ordered a Park PW-4 (the "big" asymmetrical wrench), which got 'er done.

Back in 1966, when I got out of the service, I couldn't get into the Operating Engineers Union as a heavy equipment operator (sons, brothers, nephews only). After months of working 30 day jobs as an operator I went to work for an Allice-Chalmers heavy equipment dealer as a mechanic to make money for school.
One of my jobs was to rebuild bulldozer track rollers. The bolts holding the side plates on had deeply recessed 13/16" heads (stupid design). Standard impact sockets wouldn't fit. The only thing that worked were Craftsman 12 point thin wall 1/2" drive sockets. They wore out or cracked using them with an impact wrench, sometimes 2-3 a day. I used to take them back to Sears and exchange a dozen of them every week.

Neato it is! Rudi suggested a few other options (cutouts and various type bag loop) but I preferred a slight less and semi-race profile, big hammered rivets. Plus he -created- patina and the hide is 'beefy' thick.

A lot of the tool exchange programs seem to be aware that there are folks like me out there. This week netted one damaged Snap-On 1/2" wrench, two Craftsman screwdrivers, and two 9/16"wrenches. Seven bucks total in the pawn shop. The Snap-On alone was a $20 wrench. The Craftsman stuff went into the race car tool box, where they seldom last for a season. Lost or borrowed and not returned etc., the right place for those tools. But I have a pretty complete box of tools that weren't all paid for at retail prices. Lately I have been buying more on the tool truck, but my earliest purchases were pawn shop buys that got me into a great set of tools for about half price. My latest tool truck buy was a 3/8 "drive Snap-On impact for $150 that still had two years of warranty on it (original prices was $389). Watching for the bargains is always in your favor. Smiles, MH

2 Sets Of Shimano DP Brakes
I picked up this set Shimano 105 DP brakes on eBay at the beginning of this week. Delivery was fast and price was right for the listing description:

"In good condition with a few light marks as shown." NOT NEW! NOT EVEN CLOSE! 1mm WORN OFF THE PADS!
Photos were misleading. Brakes are well used but will clean up. I left POSITIVE feed back but stated they were not new. I'm considering sending a PM to the seller to request a partial refund.
After I paid for those 105 brakes, I found a set of Shimano Ultegra DP brakes for almost half the price (dirt cheap). I bought those too. They arrived at the same time and with a little clean up and new pads (which I have)they are the ones that will be going on the bike.
So I have 2 sets of DP Shimano brakes and all is well...

This little red devil came home with me today from the swap meet for the Torelli. A little long by an inch but I'll get it cut down someday.
Suntour 6 speed freewheel and 6400 shifters. While I find near mint 105 shifters these will do. I liked that they match the headset color.

New kit - Chinese knockoff, polyester, not wool, but it fits great, feels nice and the bright colors show well in traffic. Not bad for $79.95 inc shipping. My Super Course (s) both have Campy hubs, and pump mounts, and one even has a Campy dual cable guide, so it is not completely false advertising. They do have Ti 531 tubing, too. (Not really titanium, but well ... you know).
