Shimano ST-6400 Brifter Name Plate Cover Installation
Looking for suggestions on what type of adhesive I should use to reattach the protective cap onto the nameplate. Not sure how these were originally attached, but I assume I would need a clear adhesive that will withstand heat and cold. Also not sure if the entire surface should get the adhesive or just the outside edge.
I have ordered a reproduction as a back-up, but I would prefer to restore and use the original.

Waiting to see. I have two that need replacing. I have the plates, which are the clear piece and the backing combined. They are really nice shifters, but am afraid of exactly what I see here.
I'm guessing the center of the back glues onto the shifter body, and a fine line of clear glue would be in order to at least keep that clear piece from falling out.

I've replaced old ones with new ones using a dab of Shoe Goo.
Never tried reattaching an original clear plate to the paper disc. But for, what, $12 per new pair, maybe better to just replace?

Well, the reproductions just arrived and they are amazing copies of the originals. Dropping the idea of repairing the original. Haven't applied them yet but given the overall quality, I have no reason to doubt that they are set up with the proper adhesive.
