My old Basso Loto steel bike was scratched and looking rather poorly despite nice Campy Record 10 speed parts. So I decided to refinish it. I had it sandblasted and powder coated with a color called "Transparent Blue" and it looked great. I had taken pictures of all of the decals on this last year of the Loto which were unique to it and a British source made them up for me. I put them on and the bike was like original. It looked really great. Well as anyone that owns a Pinarello knows, if you do not clear coat the decals they flake off before too long. I went to several auto painters in the area but they weren't up to painting a bicycle frame. A & A Bicycle Painting never seemed to be open when I went to see them. Finally I decided to paint them myself.

This would not be a bad idea except for one thing - we were in the middle of a cold spell and although it looked perfect when I sprayed it on, the carrier would not evaporate and it caused runs and bumping etc. Even a couple of the decals were lifted when the paint wouldn't dry and dissolved the glue.

So if you have any idea of doing the same thing do not spray clear on except in warm weather. After seeing the results I remember being at A & A when they were spraying and It was done inside a three corner covered area with a heat lamp on it. Live and learn.

Do you only ride that Redline downhill in the drops? That's what the bar setup looks like it was designed for. I guess if it's a cross race bike, that may make sense? Idk.

Can't tell if it's the set up or the fact that it's lifted up off the ground by the rear, but the bars were definitely the first thing I noticed.
