How much weight can my wheels support?

I have a Giant Contend 3 and the clearence between the chainstay is very minimal. I can max fit a 28c tire. I currently have 622x15 24 Spoke wheels. I am looking for 622x15-17mm wheels with 28 spokes or more but having difficulty finding any. I am wondering how much weight my 622x15 24H wheels could support if I am unable to find any wheels. Wheel recommendations also recommended.

If you want to use those original wheels but want to squeeze as much weight tolerance out of them as you can, replace the spokes with Alpine triple butted spokes (that is if the hubs can handle the greater diameter)

Have a look at the following link. 125 kg for rider and 4.5 kg for baggage is the published limit, but you could probably go to 7.5-10 kgs or so with bikepacking-type soft bags, if you're not maxing out rider weight limits. The limits they publish are always conservative, but it doesn't pay to exceed them by too much.

Also, check out DT Swiss endurance wheelsets.

This is the touring forum, so presumably you are carrying some weight on the bike. Any reason you do not consider 32 spoke wheels other than a few extra grams?

Also, changing to a different rim profile will change the shape of the inflated tire, possibly changing your clearance for 28mm tires into negative clearance.
