A neighbor alerted me her neighbor sold her house and had scheduled for the trash service to come haul off a bunch of stuff this weekend for our City’s annual Dumpster Day where they take large items.

I just went to retrieve this Schwinn Varsity. I’m not going to refurbish it. I’ll pass it on to someone who wants it or sell it for peanuts on OfferUp.

I found this Schwinn Voyager 11.8 next to a dumpster (fixed it up some).

From the dumpster at the LBS:

From the metals bin at the landfill:

Just a quick sample; I'm sure I could come up with half a dozen more of each if I dug through all the computer drives and camera cards.

It's tough finding a barber shop open these days.

My first dumpster-find bike was this late-60's PX10, pulled from The Off Ramp's dumpster in Silicon Valley. I knew nothing of C&V back then, so instinctively did an immediate resto-mod on it using RX100 STI levers, Roval tubulars and Sachs rear derailer:

My latest dumpster-bike find was this Centurion Pro-Tour, like the Peugeot, it was found in quite-rough condition. Just like with the Peugeot (some 22 years earlier), it was the sight of a high-end crankset that immediately had me deciding to ghost-ride it home while out riding my bike.

This Pro-Tour has to be the best combined sporting-road and gravel bike that I've ever had, and gets ridden more than any bike that I own during the almost 11 months I've owned it. It's been 100% reliable but for one front spoke nipple that popped while riding out of town (rode it home of course).

This one was saved from the dumpster as well. Got kind of creative with this one.

Built this in the early days of quarantine. LHD with an elliptical chainring.

Few things taste better when you're bonking than 2 pristine cake donuts left in the box on top of the trash can. It was like someone was saving them for me.

Did you read the “7 layer burrito poisoning” thread? I’d be paranoid about eating questionable foods during a long ride, but then again, I was brought up to pray to bless the food before I eat it and to be thankful for having something to eat.

Saved from the scrap heap. Scored an awesome rear storage bin rack as an added bonus.

Score! Those handlebars alone are worth more than the whole bike.
