Loose Chain

I have never owned anything that could remotely be called a cruiser. I have an extra set of nice MTB wheels and a pile of parts. I thought a cruiser might be a project to dispose of some of the pieces and parts.

Who makes quality steel (might consider aluminum) frames that comes in adult sizes so I can get proper saddle height for my legs. The only cruiser I have ridden, even with the saddle fully up, I felt like a folded pretzel.

Gears in the back on a 135mm axle, single crank up front and real brakes, room for fenders and rack to carry beach things.

My only comment would be, "Why bother?"

That's not meant as a snarky comment. Levers and calipers and shifters and cables and derailleurs kinda defeat the whole point of a cruiser. And since you are building a real bike, you might as well use a real frame. Especially since you already experience fit issues with cruiser frames.

If I were building a beach bike to fit your needs list, I'd use an old rigid steel MTB frame. Rear triangle already spaced properly, room for big tires, brake mounts, cable guides, etc.

Well, I may want to tow my kayak, therefore the concept of actual brakes and gears.

Being able to stop, priceless when one needs to. A rear coaster brake just does not suffice if I cannot supplement it with a strong front rim brake.

You are right, I should just use one of my MTBs.

Yeah, sounds like you are looking more for a well functioning work bike. Gears and brakes make good sense if you are towing something, for sure.

Wish for 135 says you dont want just an old cruiser frame , they are narrow for Coaster brake 1 speeds.

Beautiful frames for sure, but I believe he is experiencing delivery problems. Check first before you place an order. Or try Van Dessel's WTF.
