Deore LX RD - Jockey Screws Backing Out. ?
This is a MTB RD.
I'm talking the two pulleys on the rear derailleur, and yes, they have the metal cup races in place, If the screws holding them to the RD are fully tight they freeze the pulleys. If I back them off just a tad the screws work themselves loose after about 100 miles.
My solution is to use some blue loc-tite, keep these screws very lightly snug (and strap a mini allen wrench to the chain stay).
Bizarre design, I can't believe this is the way this RD is destined to work. Thoughts?

The bushing that is supposed to span over the width of the pulley sprocket by a small amount (to allow it to turn freely) is probably either worn or broken. The solution would be replacing the wheels.

+1, your bushing on the top pulley should be longer than the pulley is wide,
sideways 'slop' is part of the indexing..

did they start backing out after you taken the rear der apart for some reason?
