Old Marzocchi fork - damper cartridge compatiblity

Hi all,

I have a 2002 Marzocchi Z1 FR fork with a busted damper cartridge. Parts for these old forks don't come up very often, but I know that Marzocchi often re-used parts across models. Does anyone know if the damper cartridge from any other Marz forks will work? For example, will the cartridge from a 2002 Marzocchi Wedge (130mm) work?

Thanks in advance!

You could email this guy: https://www.mtbforksbymark.com/

No actual part ordering is possible on his website, despite the shopping cart system. He does respond to email and phone calls for the most part.

I went through the same search for a 2001 Z-1 FR cartridge, the ECC side unfortunately. Those ECC lockouts just blow out and stop working if you use them at all. Seem to recall that 2001 and 2002 were close enough, think I wound up with the correct year. In my experience so far messing with Marzocchi forks up to about 01'/02' the only thing that matters is overall length. As long as the length of the cartridge body and rod are the same it will fit.

Keep in mind you need the correct side cartridge, one side is rebound, and the other is compression. Easy to tell if it had the ECC lockout lever on one side, otherwise it's a little tricky. If the fork was ever rebuilt, it's pretty easy to get the two sides mixed up.
