Whatever you choose, use strongest double-sided tape you can find. Don't trust a clamp unless it's a ratchet clamp.

If it had to be AA, I would go with the Zebralight H53w as others have already mentioned. You always want a backup light too though.

Black Diamond Icon Headlamp
AA, with battery pack that has a longer cord, allowing the wearer to attach it to the strap or use the included harness to wear it on the back or chest. Very bright, good pattern, several modes. Can figure out helmet attachment pretty easily. Most of my lights are AAA, AA or 18650, as USB is a pain and just doesn't last long enough for me.
