So my guess is a soft (wider) tire on a bicycle, especially on the front, might pose staying upright problems.
I have no idea what a BSNYC is but I'll thank you in advance to be sure.
I like the feel of these tires on the road, and this is not the bike I take into the woods anymore. I've got a Barracuda A2B for that.

Thank you, ascherer. Of course, it is bikes like yours that inspire and inform my builds. I've learned a lot during my time on the BF/C&V. (Oh, there I go with those acronyms again... sorry.)

It's mutual...if I didn't have this for commuting, I'd be building one like yours!

Summer of Wide Tires

I have spent the whole summer riding on 35 mm tires. It has been a revelation. Taking in the sights and smells. Very different but thoroughly enjoyable to my usual fare.
But it's now dark so less reason to sit up in the wind and rain. One thing not mentioned is that tucked in and down on TT bars is much warmer, especially if it is snowing

Yes, we are rapidly approaching winter, and I only have about an hour of daylight after I get home from work. Most of my bikes roll on 700c X 32mm tires, I only have one, a Raleigh Wyoming, that fits 35s. Definitely nicer to ride on than the skinny 23 - 25s.

But with the dark coming sooner, I usually take a quick spin around the neighborhood before retiring to the shop for the evening. I shot this last night:

I think I have finally finished tinkering with this funky Pug. The 1x9 Deore drivetrain is perfect for the way I ride, and the cockpit setup fits like a glove. Hopefully I will get in another long weekend ride before the snow flies.

Nice looking Pug @DQRider, About 6 years ago I converted my Handsome Devil (from your neck of the woods) to a wide range 1x9 with a 13-34 cassette on the back, also deore, and have never looked back. I have a quiver of C&V for double and triple bikes but the work horse is 1x9.

Nice ride. Yes, I'm familiar with the Handsome brand. In fact, I've just bought one of their Sturmey-Archer SRF3 wheelsets in black for an upcoming project. This will be a 1949 Raleigh Clubman with incredible patina.

I'm going to carefully remove or neutralize any rust I find, then preserve that patina under several layers of clearcoat, which I will polish out so I can have a nice glossy finish over all that beautiful history. Then I will set it off with all black hardware. Along with the wheelset, I will also be using the Handsome single crank in black. This is another bike that just sort of came together in my mind before I've even got the frameset in my hands. It's going to be an interesting winter.

Oh, and here's a shot from last night's Tour de `Hood:

I'm starting to appreciate the simplicity of the single-speed drivetrain. As long as I stay up on top of the hill, that is...

Its a stock fork but a Modern steel frame (2009) with threadless fork, I bought it as a frameset and wanted a more upright ride so I left most of the steerer tube and used a few spacers. For C&V threaded fork with quill stem I would have just used a Nitto Technomic

Couple of days ago was enjoying autumn foliage in the valleys nearby, it was bit cold though, it seems to be always much cooler there than "on the surface".

Just a run up to Highland Park this morning, nothing special. I stop at the Chicago Botanic Gardens a few times a year and generally take roughly the same picture (you can't wander off the main paved road with your bike). There's not a ton of fall foliage in the Japanese Garden, but I can't get enough of the view.

Work challenge continued.....needed winter gear as it was a damp, chilly day in NE Ohio.
Trying to convince the Raleigh off road is fun!

Stoped by an antique shop to warm up. Thought these pencil sharpeners were neat.

Old haunted building in my town. Nighttime flashlight tours are popular here

Old bike on porch of antique shop.

Saw this 52 Jaguar along my route. Even had a sunroof.

I rode from my house 8 miles to the Bethany Beach boardwalk. A nice sunny, fall like day. More people on the boards than I expected. I was heading the down coastal highway to Fenwick Island, planning on heading back inland to do the circuit back to my house. Still in Bethany when I felt a looseness in my left crank arm. Stopped to check it out and the crank arm bolt was backing out of the threads and the crank arm was pretty loose. Hand tightened it as much as I could and turned around to head back home, 7 miles. I was pretty much pedaling with just the right crank and babying the left crank arm. I had to keep stopping every 1/2 to one mile to hand tighten the crank again. When I got home I put the bike in my stand and took the left crank off. Did not see anything wrong so I tightened it down and test pedaled it while it was on the stand. I did not take it back out to do a test ride but I will do that tomorrow. I have no clue as to why the bolt was backing out of the threads.

My Schwinn SS DBX.

2014 Orbea Avant MD 40 that I purchased new in 2016.

Friday I rode to the bike shop on Germaine ('95 Schwinn canti) to get a new rim for Rosa (early 60s Rollfast canti). Really nice and like new, replace a badly rusted and bent but formerly speedy rim that ironically was standard on several '95 Schwinns but my original wheelset is long gone. Nice to have a rim that doesn't rub again the spring fork. The best part was the price for parts and labor, he sold me the rim for $12 and labor was $8 for $20 total!

Yes it does sorta look like I've got a bent spoke, I'll check that.

36 miles out thru Somis, CA citrus and avacado orchards. Damp chilly fog in the morning, near 90 at the end.

On Sunday morning I took the train part way and exited at a Dallas Dart underground station.

Snapped my Trek 750 in front of downtown muriel.

Then met up with a friend and rode around downtown area, had coffee and a fun exploring type ride.

The locks on bridge phenomenon occurs on this old train trestle converted to part of bike path across the Trinity River.

It was a great day to be out and about on the bikes.

cooperryder I like the creative photos . I never encountered anything like the locks on the bridge. How long has that been going on.
I entered many photo contest back in the film days and I like the many pictures I see on here by our riding friends. Creativity extends to many in there beautiful bike builds also.

Thanks EddyR
In reference to the' locks on bridges '
thing
I had not heard of it until a couple years ago.

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/feb/14/the-lock-of-love-padlocks-on-bridges

According to the article it's a romantic gesture.

However, the weight adds up over time and can become a problem for the integrity of the bridge.

Paris, France has had big problems with this from what I read.

@greg3rd48, next time you're in my back yard, stop by, or we could take that ride together. And did I build the wheels on that Fuji? How are they holding up?

I also rode the Ruff Stuff ride on Oct 21 that @ascherer rode. Andy, what would you call the pace? I'd call it moderate, and it had hardly any climbing. It was 29 miles. I brought along a young fellow who is my daughter's new boyfriend. He's 29, and he was, by far, the youngest in our crowd. I showed him how tough old folks can be. It was a big challenge for him. He's an athlete but not much of a cyclist. He had a little trouble keeping up, and he went over the handlebars at one point but didn't get too banged up. Andy's pictures are the best, so I won't post any of my crappy pictures.

Saturday and yesterday (Oct 27 and 28), I attended the Philly Bike Expo and hung out with @KonAaron Snake. I had a good time there and met a lot of good folks from the industry and saw the neat stuff there is out there. Yesterday, Aaron and I rode from Media, PA to the convention center and then back in the evening, 17 miles each way. Nice riding over rolling hills, and I got to see a lot of what makes Philadelphia what it is, both the good and the bad. I feel I got a clear sense of it.

Here is a street shot of West Philly, with Aaron in the bike lane.
