I'm thankful there were no trucks in the bike lane today.

The rented white pickup hopped the curb at W. Houston with ISIS-inspired suspect Sayfullo Saipov drawing a bead on bicyclists as screams filled the Halloween skies and blood stained the pavement.

“God is Great!” The Uzbekistan native shouted in Arabic before a hero cop pumped a bullet into his abdomen, ending the deadly assault on a bright holiday afternoon.

Seeing so many bicycles smashed in the bike lane creeped me out. It took a long time for me to get where I could ride my bike at night. Yes I know you can see the lights coming up behind you but I am never sure they are not in the bike lane. The very idea that those cyclists never knew it was coming my make the hair stand up on the back of my neck for months to come. Cyclists in a bike lane are about as soft if a target as it gets for a truck.

I think I know...

Great thread I'm thankful that I got to have a wonderful day of cooking and sharing dinner with family and friends. Instead of traditional turkey (which no one really likes) we do cultural themes. This holiday was Italian and we had 5 cooks in the kitchen all working together. Two lasagnas, eggplant parmesan, focaccia bread, caesar salad, tiramisu...

The next day I was able to drive up to the Adams River salmon run and dive to take video and pictures. Every four years there is a dominant run with millions predicted to return and we can sit in Shuswap lake under the outflow of the river to shoot the salmon as they mill about getting ready to make their last push upstream after already traveling almost 500km from the ocean..

The next day (long weekend) I went for a nice ride along local dikes and farmland roads on my FG bike.
