I Need Help. Where can I buy this part?

Hello. I recently bought an eastern branded bmx second hand for a really good price. After giving the bike a quick once over i noticed that there is a part missing. There is a large threaded plate with two cut outs that can be tightened to hold the spindle and the bearing tight and in place. However there sould also be another nut or spacer that prevents that plate from coming loose when riding. Ive looked online and cant find it anywhere. When i ride i can just keep getting off and re-tighten it but i would really aprecciate having it stay tight. I tried buting a cable tie for a temporary quick fix but it doesnt help. Any help is really aprecciated. <3

The nut comes as part of the bottom bracket which is really inexpensive ($10) and will also give you some new ball bearings and a chance to clean it up and add grease.

I'm not entirely sure what part you're referring to. "large threaded plate with two cut outs" sounds a bit like a lockring. But they generally have more than two cut outs.
For some bottom brackets, there is the adjustable cup, which may well have only two cutouts, or ridges. But comparing that to a "plate" doesn't seem reasonable.
Can you post a pic of the bike, or a link to the actual model?
Or simply drag the bike to a shop, ask them to fix the problem. If it's as simple as a missing locknut/lockring, it should be inexpensive enough to have it fixed.

Eastern site shows this description of crank for several of their current bikes: CRANK 3-Piece, Tubular Heat-Treated Chromoly, Bolt for Sprocket, Pinch Bolt with 8-Splined Spindle, 165mm 31.8mm Round Arm
Pictures show only the drive side. Assuming the problem is on the non-drive side.

Sounds to me like a one piece crank with the left hand threaded nut missing.

I'm trying to orient myself with our bottom bracket.

The large notched nut. Does that stay fixed with the bottom bracket shell...
And the spindle turns separate?

In that case, you can not lock the shell by bolting onto the spindle.

You would need a locknut like this, that goes around the outer rim of the bottom bracket shell.

See the nut that the hook wrench is working on.

Try your local bike shop or bicycle co-op. They should get you set up.

I don't have any.

Looks like a conversion kit from a OPC to a 3 piece, by an unknown to me company

, remove the whole thing, replace it with something that is complete .

I suggest a converter that uses a common threaded BB..

Clifford is cueing ib on a threaded BB , which it is not..
maybe the nut is from a one piece crank BB..

did suggest a bike shop as where to look , they have used but still good parts bins..
Bike CoOp?

maybe just revert to a one piece crank those parts are cheap & common as dirt.

...

Is this it?

In which case, it goes together much like the old 1-piece bottom brackets.

It is quite possible that a one-piece locknut would work on it. You can ask your local co-op if they have it.

Or, just snag the whole bottom bracket off of E-Bay.

I see what confused me...

The is a tie wrap in the photo that doesn't belong there. It looked like a grease seal.

I think the Bottom Bracket above is the correct replacement bottom bracket. However, there is a good chance that the locknut from any one-piece bottom bracket will work for the OP.

If the bike was ridden with a loose bottom bracket, things could get chewed up quickly, and a replacement might not be a bad idea.

Looks like he will need the notched washer in addition to the locknut

It looks like the BMX bottom brackets simply list the number of splines. Otherwise, hopefully they are standardized.

The bottom bracket above uses the typical loose/caged bearings. That one was supposed to be "NOS". So, with a bit of cleaning and fresh grease, it should be good.

To "modernize", there are a few options. One can get the American/Ashtabula to threaded adapter:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/bottom-brac...X/254167923190

Plus a threaded bottom bracket.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-BMX-MTB...m/362462622587

But, it quickly starts getting much more expensive.
