Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shaker is somewhat similar to all of these as well, but easy to differentiate from the above styles.

If pressed, I would probably call the desk pictured above Prairie, although Arts and Crafts or Mission would be fine as well. Prairie would be a bit more specific and accurate.
Yeah, that's why I stick to building them, and let my wife do the designing

Just cause its carbon doesn't mean its better. It sures looks bling-y to the uninitiated, though.
So you are comparing two bikes you dont own quoting alleged weights?

I guess its a skill the uninitiated done have

Not a fan of cosmetic carbon layers.

Hope it rides as well as you're expecting it to. Nothing like a new build, enjoy!

Unfortunately most "naked" CF bike frames/forks have a cosmetic layer on it. The painted CF bikes tend not to have this cosmetic layer as it's covered in paint.

Me? I got a nice new frame and im stoked yet people nit pick and find flaws in my new found joy. Sound like someone you know? Maybe a guy you know that got a new limited specialized frame everyone is hating on? Take a few steps back and make sure you arent stepping on your own toes.
Did you ride your Leader for thousands of miles and many years before you bought it? Ever ride a Pinarello Prince, Colnago C-50, Ridley Noah, Cervelo S3? If not, then you know just as little about what you're saying as he does. Difference is you're trying to rationalize a purchase.

Nope and havent commented on the ride of it and any other bike. Just cosmetics.

Unfortunately EMS owns me until monday when i can get to the bike shop and get the fork cut so then i can finally piece it all together and see how it rides.

I've always liked the looks of that leader frame but I did buy a group buy Pedal Force frame. It was about the same price as the Leader. It rides amazing for what I paid for it. It does weigh right at 1kg (using my calibrated balance). Isn't the Leader listed at 1.5kg? That's over 1lb difference in weight. From a WW standpoint, I win. Heck, my Lemond Zurich carbon and steel spine bike weighs a littler over 1.5kg.

The Leader frame is still great looking (to me) but I went with the Pedal Force and honestly feel that frame is the sex.

We each have our preferences of how we like it when it comes to sex, to each their own.

As for making up for that 1lb of difference, ill takes a piss before i ride.

Built....it looks amazing. I wasn't a fan of the sloping compact geometry until my Zurich and PF bikes.

The Leader is still a nice looking bike but frame availability on Leader's website isn't giving me any warm and fuzzy feelings. They only have two sizes in stock.

Plus, if I wanted a 3lb frame, I could go steel.

The OP is a little baby who's upset because we don't share his enthusiasm for a cheap frame. Yawn.

Sorry for being pedantic. I was a sales rep for a furniture hardware company for several years before returning to grad school. Most of my furniture (had good connections in those days) is Mission or some derivitive. Some is newer and some antique.

Stickley had a plant in my territory, and was a reasonably-sized account of mine. The only way I could ever afford any of their stuff was via industry discount!

I admire anyone with the talent to build furniture. Post a pic sometime, I'd love to see some of your work (talk about a thread derail, huh?).

most important, if you like the bike, you like it. i have a very detached view of bikes due to racing (crashing is a fact of life) so I immediately evaluate according to price/weight/performance ratio.

oh, BTW, a friend of mine has a PF frame, and it weighs very slightly under 1 kg. this is proven. ride quality is also quite nice.

enjoy your bike, ride the hell out of it, and I am sure it looks neat when the sun is shining on it carbon-ness. sorry to rain on the new bike parade.
