Where to get spokes?

For my last few wheel builds, I used the inexpensive Sapim spokes from Dan's Comp. They had a really great service, providing spokes cut and threaded to any desired length. But they no longer offer spokes at their website.

Alternatives?

Sapim is a big brand and widely distributed. You could do a Google search for wheel builders as they usually carry them in various lengths. Some of them will also cut them to length for you. Or Look at the big online bike retailers.

DT, Sapim, Wheelsmith spokes plus others. I like them because I can order online and pick up my order at the Portland retail store.

Wow those are expensive prices. Sapim laser is 55 cents and polyax is 11 cents locally. But your prices may be due to trade war.

Bike 24 has Sapim Race and Rose has DT Swiss. Prices are a little lower than Dan's, shipping is a lot higher. Cost for a wheelset comes out about the same or a little lower depending on the spoke count. I usually get some other German stuff in the order (Schmidt, B&M, Ortlieb/Tubus, Schwalbe, Continental, etc.) to make it worthwhile.

This makes two outlets (the other being Cambria Bike) that I won't be doing business with anymore because they have chosen not to sell spokes. Their loss!

I plan to buy my next set(s) of spokes from Colorado Cyclist. They have my favored DT Swiss Comp 1.8/1.6/1.8 for $0.85 each, in a wide range of lengths: https://www.coloradocyclist.com/dt-s...6-gauge-spokes

Amain bought Dan's so that's those two plus Nashbar and performance which are all Amain now. You can either count that as 1or 4. They're all on my "prefer not to do business with" list too.

Any particular reason you get the skinny ones? I normally get the 14/15s.

I don't actually have a strong position on the buyouts, but looking back, I haven't spent a lot of money at Nashbar or Performance in the last few years.

Part general curiosity, part weight-weenie-ism. They've held up great so far. I feel like FBinNY was on the right track when he said most people use too much spoke, or at least more than they need.
