Sells Italia Turbo saddle variant (?) - What’s the logo?
I’m restoring an American lightweight classic and found this unique (?) blue colored Selle Italia Turbo that matches my color. Any idea on the logo on the nose? Thank you.

Univega. or Uniwega. It will come off with acetone if need be, but kind of unique to see a turbo with that branding.

The nose logo still says "turbo"

Yes, must be from a Univega.
I didn't think Selle Italia branded their saddles with other manufacturer's logos back at that time.....
This is the first one I have seen.

then i need a suitable '82 saddle in blue...perhaps the Bernard Hinault Turbo variant(?)...Thanks for all the replies. I think I will table this lovely seat for another project. The Appel needs saddle branding integrity!

When I bought my De Rosa in December 1983 the only Turbo saddle La Mesa Cyclery (San Diego) had in stock was this exact same blue Univega saddle.
I recall receiving one or two sneers from guys in my cycling club when they saw the Univega logo...
Just one or two more posts and I'll be able to put up a picture of the bike & saddle...!

The Univega logo might come off with just a bit of nail polish remover. But test it first on a small section of the leather cover under the saddle, in case it might damage the finish on the leather too.

thank you for the suggestion; muy only concern is that acetone (or any solvent) would affect the foundational blue color of the saddle itself around the logo area AND it looks like the Univega logo was pressed into the leather, so there would still be a ghosted outline of the logo even if I could remove the white interior paint...i think i either live with the Univega logo or go for the Hinault Turbo variant

FWIW in my bike shop days, it was common to remove saddle logos with lacquer thinner (acetone + MEK + toluene + whatever). I never witnessed a problem with it damaging the leather. Never tried it on a blue saddle though, so who knows.
I suspect that saddle would have been nubuck/suede originally. They don't stay suede for long.

There was a certain time period in the early 80s during which Univega were branding their stock saddles like that. I think it applied only to the upper tiers of their lines, but not positive.

Trivia bit: there were actual Turbo saddles made under licence from Selle Italia by Viscount (Taiwan). At first I though these were blatant knock-offs but read that it was a legally licensed product. I have seen a couple in life, one was smooth white leather, the other a light gray suede.
