Really Cooling Off Around Here in SoCal Lately

Good thing I had my under layer on yesterday. The temp was a chilly average 90 degrees on yesterday's ride.

Average temp 90 degrees according to Strava.

Average 91 according to Garmin.

98 max according to Garmin connect.

Getting chilly around here!

I heard yesterday that we were expecting 3 or 4 days of rain.

So despite knowing better (3 days of forecast rain usually equals 4 hours of drizzle) I'm riding down to the local REI tomorrow to pick up a Showers Pass waterproof jacket I bought on the REI Outlet a couple of nights back. You know. Just in case.

It will go in with my modest collection of "rain and cold weather riding gear," which gets dragged out for maybe 20 rides a year. Probably less.

Yeah, with all the big storms we get around here, I've never needed more than a PI windbreaker.

But yeah, a big storm around here is 45 minutes out of a 3 day period!

the general la/oc basin (and even san diego) basins seem to miss much of whatever storms come our way.
something about rain-laden clouds hitting a 4,000+foot mountain range tho. i have been caught in a few mountain
and/or desert storms over the years, thinking i could slip in between fronts/waves. some success. those failures tho...

yah weird day today weatherwise in coastal san diego. obvious fall transition day today from the last two hot days of indian summer heat brought cloudiness, overcast,
(southern) winds and a strange humidity intermixed with both cold and warm. it was poised to rain > noon and had some random droplets/brief sheets of rain
until 4pm. finally rained enuff to respectably call it rain around 6pm. it's time to put the summer jerseys in the bottom of the drawer.

Supposed to start up hear (Long Beach) around 8-10am. I hope if passes quickly. Today was supposed to be a "ride" day but I'm not riding in the rain.

We're only forecast for about a quarter inch spread across the whole day, which is not something that would dissuade me. But it's already windy at 6am, and expected to only get worse. Riding in the rain, fine. Riding in the wind, ugh. Riding in windy rain, nope.
