Finally bought my ideal bike. Its a Chirico

So I had been hunting for a while for a bike with 80s super record components. This came up on ebay in Italy and I jumped on it. I like the Pantographing. (and no I do not ride with the pedals like that I will be untucking the straps)

Apparently this is the maker of the Cinelli Equipe Centurion frames

They still exist: https://www.ciclichirico.it/noi/

"Founded at the beginning of the century by grandfather Enrico, carried on by his father Erminio from '48 to 1987, it now celebrates 30 years of activity in the hands of his son Luigi.Manufacturers of frames and racing bicycles until 2000, given the natural decline of this material in favor of Hi-Tec composites, production ceased, continuing to set up special bicycles by mounting the best of components on the finest carbon monocoque frames.

If I recall correctly, they were the actual maker of the Cinelli Centurian bikes of the mid 80’s.

I had heard that they made the Cinelli Equipes. Interestingly, Its hard to find a serial on this bike so I am not sure exactly what year this was made.

Very nice! Which Columbus tubing? The head lugs look interesting. I hope you will add some detail pics when you get a chance.

That's what your seat tube decal says (and at this size it would generally be SL-only and NOT SP), always a small chance some Falck was snuck in, but I tend to doubt it given the "high class" touches.

Did anybody mention the builder was reported to have made the Cinelli Centurion Equipes?

Really nice bike and not one I have seen in the flesh, either...congrats!

Does the pantographing on the fork say Chirico? I am unable to see.

Classy and lovely bike.

Neat. I bet his shop has some nice bikes hanging in the shop -- above all the models that are for sale.

Is that the signature of PO on the top tube and is it "Magni, O."? Would guess first name might be Ottavio or something like it, and that surname has some cache, but perhaps no relation to the marque. And BTW in case I missed this the headlugs are very similar to, but maybe not exactly the same Prugnat "62D" model lugs used by MANY builders, including highly favored by Ernesto for his Colnagos

Yes I believe the name on there is Magni O. Would the builder have painted that on or would the customer more likely put it on themselves? Thanks for the info on the lugs I thought they were neat but had no idea who made them.

I got the bike on the road today and went a couple miles to test the seat and stem height and the ride quality is superb.

Signature could have been painted on by Chirico (frame made to order for "O. Magni"), could have been done by his shop where purchased/serviced, could have been by Magni's race team or rider's club, or by Magni himself. I'd tend to think if the yellow in-filling was done by Chirico they would have used same yellow paint to personalize the frame...but who knows at this point? Glad the ride quality is superb, I'm not surprised!

Just for more "bike porn" and why I registered the name "Magni" here's one with centerfold quality pix, built by Giovanni Losa for "Pep Magni" (Guiseppe) all these guys in the same general neighborhood that Chirico is located in: Greater Milano I bet they all know each other and that "Magni" may be a fairly common name in Milano
