Some times I stay just for the classic threads.

Especially when a person joins - to Spoof us bigly, or Not. Then leaves.

Asplode or assplode, the sudden, spontaneous, catastrophic failure of the despised CF (carbon fiber, or plastic) frame material.

Not sure I can adequately define that divine object many devote a lifetime to pursue. But I can pronounce it, "Ghláil!" in the proper, course, raspy and resolute voice.

Lawyer lips: small notches added to fork tips to avoid accidental front wheel removal.

tub(s): a tubular or sew-up tire.

”That’ll buff right out!”: Sarcastic comment about damage that cannot easily be fixed.

DUI bars: Road bars that have been rotated 180 degrees so that drops are on top.

YMMV: Abbreviation for “Your Mileage May Vary” (corrected)

ass-hatchet: a very uncomfortable saddle

I thought YMMV was "your mileage may vary," i.e., your experience might be different than mine. Another one I use a lot in this forum is IIRC: If I remember correctly (as most things are back in day for me).

And eRichie's thing is "ATMO," I believe: According to my opinion. . .

JRO - Just riding along. Used to explains how the damage or catastrophic failure of a bike part could in no way, no possible way, be due to anything the rider might have been attempting.

Pie Rides: it’s what the old retired resort home folk do. They plan a 6mi no-drop ride to the cafe.

Cafe racer: Weekend, sunny day road warriors who ride their very expensive bikes 6 miles or so to the cafe for a meal and to brag about their cat. 4 racing careers. Not that anyone in C&V land would ever do so.

Good point, but I think that it implies that carbon fiber and aluminum are fake.

But then I'm not sure what fake would mean.

It rhymes, so it's got that going for it.

BITD Cafe Trieste had a location in Sausalito. Any given weekend there would be a pile of grillion dollar bikes piled up outside. Hundreds of lycra trees were cut down to clothe the riders. Ride across the Golden Gate Bridge, stop for an espresso and pastry, turn around and go back.

Many called it Cafe Screen Test.

I always feel like that statement needs an object, i.e., “real” is modifying some other word:

Steel is real soft.
Steel is real good.
Steel is real comfy.
Steel is real(ly) heavy.
Steel is real breakable.

“Does it plane?”

Not a reference to Tattoo on Fantasy Island, but to Jan Heine’s very vague description of an ideal riding quality that’s completely subjective and very rarely achieved.
