Hi All,

This will be my second post (Bikemig) has kindly directed me to this forum, I am hoping you may be able to help. Over 30 years ago now I bought a Moser from a work colleague hoping to re-kindle my love of cycling, unfortunately shortly after I changed jobs, then family came along, as a result I never got to ride the bike and it has been in storage all this time.
I have now decided I am too old to take up cycling and am going to try and sell the bike, but I have no idea of value and that’s where I hope you can help or at least point me in the right direction.
I have found a photograph of what I believe to be the frame in the Moser catalog and it’s shown as a Columbus Three-tube, the bike has the following equipment
Ofmega crank
Mavic rims and tubeless tyres
Durace gears and brakes
Moser 3 tt stem and handle bars

OP- where are you located and what size is the bike? For size- measure from the middle of the frame where the crank is(bottom bracket) up along the seat tube to the middle of where the seat tube and top tube meet. Also, just measure standover and itll help anyone here have an idea on frame size.

Both location and frame size matter with pricing- if you have a bike that fits a 7' man and live near the arctic, the bike's value may not be much due to a lack of demand.

Thank you for the replies so far. I found the forum through a Google search and took it from there, it’s only now I realise that this is a 🇺🇸 forum, so I apologise if I am wasting your time as I live in 🇬🇧 but I would be grateful for any help you can provide.
I have uploaded some photos to my profile if users are able to view them.
on the bottom of the frame next to an embossed FR are the numbers 55 stamped into the frame, is this anything to do with the size ?

The 55 stamped on the bike is the frame size I'm pretty sure.

Ok thank you for the valuation. Would it be fair to say in the vintage bike world, Moser is pretty much run of the mill ?

No a Moser is not run of the mill. And take our valuations with a grain of salt (or two). Most of the posters are US based and British prices will tend to be higher (as will European prices in general). But given the Brexit shock and the huge downturn in the British economy last year, prices may be nosing down in the UK.

This is a fine looking bike with good quality components but not entirely top of the line. More pics with details of the parts and any tubing stickers would be helpful. Is this a Columbus tretubi (3 main tubes) bike? What sort of Columbus tubing? I'm guessing SL but a pic of a tubing sticker would help.

I should be able to post more photos in a couple of posts time, I will also see if I can locate the tubing sticker. From an aesthetic point of view the things that have always attracted me to the frame is the attention to detail, with Moser being branded into the rear forks, there is also an FM in a nice type face branded into the underside of the frame where the crank goes. I use the term branded as I don’t believe these were stamped, unless done on a large press, the frame size however has just been punched into the frame.

"Branding" is also known as "pantographing" in the bike world. You'll see it done to frames and to components.

I have checked the frame again and cannot find any sticker to indicate what the tubing is, the area at the bottom of the frame where I believe it’s normally located has a Shimano Dura Ace EX system sticker.

I re-read your original post regarding tubing. Three tubes Columbus was your best guess, not firm. Could be something better.

Is there a name stamped on the front or rear dropouts? If they are Columbus, it may indicate a better quality frame. Are you able to accurately weigh the whole bike?

Shimano Dura Ace EX sticker would definitely say not bottom of the line. Assuming it's original.

If you're headtube decal is original your bike should be from 1979, the first year of production. I'm very close to positive that the catalog at Bulgier..... is from 1980. In 1980 It went to the Moser written vertically. The clamp on front derailleur puts it at 82 or earlier.
That being said, It could well be the dura ace equipped model with a replaced fork. Or the tretubi as you state. The fork crown looks the same. The baby sprint or one of them had the black outlined Moser decals,...hmmmmm, Is the downtube decal a replacement? Is it a decal or is it more of a stencil painted on?

Uncleivan- thank you for the information. The bike is exactly the same as when I bought it (even the tyres). I am not sure though whether the bike was originally bought as a frame and built up with components or bought as a complete package. It’s very interesting about the front decal. It could well have been 1979 when the original owner bought the bike. He was a very keen cyclist and I do remember he was moving into mountain biking so it’s possible he owned the bike for a few years before I bought it.
