@Enthalpic - no kidding. I collect that water and drive it over a thousand miles one way. As in hobbies there is no expense spared to get the best. We are working on the barrels and char level. Colaborator and me will travell most anywhere in the world to pretend it matters. For now - nixed a weekend in Scottland to try local some CO spring water. Next year we may step it up. I found that living in Mainitou Springs sometimes - they actually have springs.
There is science here (as you know).

Doge That copper still is beautiful.
I'm sure you know the copper influences the flavour (sulfur removal and catalytic activity).

We are also (planning) on doing this at sea level, 6,000 ft and 9,000 ft. There is always science, and there is what tastes the best. I expect a trip to the store might prove better. I'll report back.

The latest is my BPA - free containers were made in in a country where the boss does not trust that labeling. I have to get new containers and do more fills. Driving back this week with 15 gal of tap water from Manitou Springs, CO.

I'm surprised "the boss" doesn't want the water to be collected in glass carboys. If using plastic bags perhaps get some from a brewshop for the bag-in box-wines. They should not leach much of anything.
Keep me updated on the project.

The cleaning process must be / should be detailed.
Obviously start with new carboys. From there who knows?
Personally I would probably do a phosphoric acid based wash, lots of rinsing with DI water, a sodium metabisulfite sterilization, more rinsing then fill with the spring water. After letting the walls ion exchange with the spring water for several hours, drain and refill with fresh.

I really didn't want to hear that. Can you buy pre-cleaned? Help me out and we will send you a sample.

Star San is a good product to start with.
https://www.northernbrewer.com/products/star-san
Use lots of rinsing after (ignore that "no rinse" nonesense).
then

Use this solution to clean transfer equipment like funnels or pumps. More rinsing (ideally with the spring water).
Most important IMO is filling the container with the "sample" letting it sit, dumping it out and then refilling and sealing.

Always wise to do a matrix incubation and rinse at the end! I advise many of my trainees/team members to do that in their sample preparation. This is broadly applicable of course to many applications.
The initial chemical cleanings are where things get technical, but always follow it up with DI water (or pure solvent) rinses and then sample (or blank) incubation + rinse to matrix match.

I had the brilliant idea of moving my Django PMC app to my raspberry pi, on which I've had set up server capabilities for some light serving. It took way too long to troubleshoot and get Django to run properly on Apache. Long story short, I got it going today and have a domain pointed to my site so now I can check out my site from anywhere.

SpaceX has advanced more in 10 years than NASA and RosCosmos has in the last 40.
Musk gets all the credit but Tom Mueller (his first engineer who recently retired) really should get more. He make engines as a hobby and as a job. His first day testing the first prototype SpaceX rocket, he fired it up at the test site. After the successful test, he told the testers, "We have this place for a day, lets fire it up again." The testers were shocked as that's never happened. Testing continued and ultimately showed the rockets could be reusable. Definitely worth a read if you can find more on him.
Hopefully this one sticks!

I attended a private equity conference a number of years ago and Musk was on a panel. Musk had recently sold PayPal and made $350 million. He took $50 million and formed SpaceX.
In the audience were the king makers consisting of private equity and strategic equity interested in space. The strategic equity guys from the companies that supported NASA were snickering at Musk’s vision of commercialization of rocket development and launching including reusable parts.
Musk is just pure boldness. I love this guy. He puts $50 million of his own money at risk against overwhelming odds of potential failure. How many more successes can he have in his lifetime? Maybe the best is yet to come.

It was definitely cool. Fun to see it land. Shame it blew up, but that's progress. Getting it on the ground is like 98% of the battle. Keeping it from exploding once it's there can't be that hard.
