Advice on donor bike steel choice for Xtracycle Leap

Hi all,

I'm about to build an electrified Xtracycle Leap using a 1990s 26" steel rigid MTB. However, I have two such bikes to choose from:

1. GT Timberline featuring Tange Chromoly steel (low to mid range MTB of the time AFAIK).
2. Crescent (Swedish brand) Rimfaxe featuring Tange Prestige MTB steel (higher end MTB of the time with XT components).

Number two is much lighter.

Which of these two bikes would you recommend that I choose? Would for example the GT result in a stronger build (although heavier) and be preferred?

Cheers,

Magnus

Heavier should mean thicker tubings and stiffer right. I would choose that.
