My current project
I thought I'd share my current project.
I would like to end up with a 1x11 Flat Bar Hyrid Go Anywhere (within reason) bike
There is no budget as such, but every component must be obtained at a substantial discount.
Over the previous 6 months or so I have already managed to 'win' a few components on Ebay.
I also envisage most of the stuff will come from Ebay.
I also already have bits 'n' pieces knocking around in my garage.
So the plan is to try and build it with what I have first. Then when I get the fit right and I'm happy, I'll start to look to upgrade a few bits.
I currently have a Sirrus (SL4 frame) and a CX Quick One (with the fatty forks). I'm hoping for this bike to fit in the middle of them 2.
So here's the starting point: A Merida alloy frame.

Done just a little bit more;
Fitted a temporary seatpost and saddle.
Fitted a temporary stem and handlebars.
Fitted temporary wheels, but the rear wheel has the 11 speed Ultegra cassette which will be in the final configuration.
And both wheels have 160mm rotors fitted which will also be in the final build.
Also managed to get a few more components for the final build.
One possible problem:
After doing some research about the frame, I have discovered that although it is designed for internal cables, which I want. It is designed for cables for mechanical disc brakes, but I already have obtained some hydraulic disc brakes I'd like to use. So some thinking to do......

Wow, looks terrific! I like the blue frame color. What is that bike stand and do you like it? Still debating on a stand for basic bike work. Waiting for the $90 recommended one at Amazon to be on sale. I missed the last $10 price dip :-/

From memory I think I paid about £55 for it.
It comes in handy, especially the little tray on it.
If I was ever to buy one again, I would get one with a telescopic arm that could be attached to the front end to stop it from turning. But I think they are in a higher price bracket.

Nice project ! I have the same 46/36 Ultegra crankset and I like the gearing a lot. You can run the hydralic brake lines in through the frame, though you will need to cut and recrimp the brake lines, I think the tool is around $50. I don't think you want to route the lines outside the frame, its much to nice of a bike to do that.

Thank you for the advise about the brake lines.

Just fitted carbon stem and handlebars and carbon seatpost.
Getting there but only slowly.
Probably tackle the brakes next.
