I saw your bike and for a minute I thought it was the SLR 1. Very nice looking bike. What size is your frame?
Thank you and yes, with the 2018 SLR2 they seem to have taken most of the style from 2016 SLR1 and then added some more red in the bottom tube of frame..

I bought the Large size, I was going to go with the medium because even though I am 6'1.. my legs/inseam is shorter..
But Then.. My arms were a lil too long so the medium frame felt slightly cramped.. Riding..
What would fit me best would be in between medium/large.. While Riding.. The large is what I need.. when standing the top bar is a lil high into my groin.. But not horribly.. still would not want to come down on it haha

I really Like those wheels on yours.. really fit the bike well too..
I also like the tires.. They look like a nice mix of road/offroad.. What size/brand/model are they?

Mine is a Small frame but based on Giant's website it's a medium in other brands. I'm still debating if I should sell it and get the Medium. A local Giant dealer still has a 2016 SLR1 in medium. I need to call them to see how much they want for it since it's almost two years old.
The tires are Hemisphere Armadillo 700x38c. They are an excellent tire. they are a little on the heave side but comfortable.

2017 Giant toughroad SLR1 vs 2018 Giant toughroad SLR2

2017 Giant toughroad SLR1 vs 2018 Giant toughroad SLR2
hi guys...I need some advice...I need a new bike in Toronto, Canada...mostly commuting with occasional off road...
the Toughroad SLR line seems to fit the bill...
I found a 2017 Toughroad SLR 1-that comes with racks etc for about the same price than a 2018 Toughroad SLR2 (the gorgeous black with red colours.....)..which one is a better bike? for the same price now...smoother ride? components etc...I read the specs but I don't know enough to see the difference...!
I confess I like the colour of the 2018 SLR2 better- also I'm thinking I may/would replace the tires for Schwalbe Allmotion or marathon supreme...
help pls! I used to have a Giant Seek 2013 but is time to move on!
thanks

The 2018 SLR2 comes standard with tubeless tyres (iirc) while the 2017 SLR1/2 should be tubeless ready.
The 2017 SLR1 has a more expensive 10 speed groupset while the 2018SLR2 is 100% 9 speed Acera.

The 2018 is more gorgeous but if the 2017 SLR1 is the same price, then I'd say it's the better deal as it has the better groupset and brakes.

Both are very light rolling, the Almotion is a bit heavier so acceleration/climbing it's worse than the Almotion.
On long flat straights it's slightly faster than the Supreme.

Alternatively the Schwalbe G-One Speed is also a very good tyre.

Thanks so much! I’m leaming toward the 2017 SLR1-the better components will be better in the long run. I will give it a test ride soon. It has been discounted a bit but is more expensive than the 2018 SLR 2. I will keep the stock tires-no hurry to get better ones yet. schwalbe makes good tires. I hate getting a flat on my way home!
Thanks

Toughroad weight

Hi Toughpeople. I´m new participant in the fórum but been Reading it for long, so thanks for all the Info!
I´m going to get a thoughroad slr 2 2017 and planing to customize it a bit, my goal is to lower the weight to about 10 kg (22 lbs.) but I cannot find the original weight of the bike anywhere. So I turn to you happy owners of the though to see if you can help me out.
My customization plan is to change to a shimano xt drivetrain and get a stans grail team wheelset with a schwalbe g-one allaround 700x38. Love to hear your opinions on that.
Thanks again and happy riding!

Definitely.

The crank is an obvious place to start and you can lose a pound by switching to a 2 chainring XT level crank.

The wheels are I believe at least 2kg for both, maybe as much as 2.2kg, so a pound of weight loss should be possible there.

Thank You very much colonel I will follow your advice. I´m planing on upgrading to a 1x11 xt with a race face Sl cranks and change the wheels to a pair of stans grail team. maybe a carbón handlebar.....
I´ll let you know how this finishish.

And don't forget the pics.

The Toughroad is an excellent candidate for a 1 x 11 conversion.

tubeless ready?

Just to check on this - what exactly does 'tubeless ready' mean in this context for the 2017 models?
Is it simply that the rims have the optimised profile (with the tubeless 'lip'), but you still have to tape them?
or is the taping already done, and you just have to insert sealing tubeless valves (and obviously the tyres and sealant!) if you want to convert?
