Finally got a Zwift podium, 3rd in the ZUR (C) race. Two guys got away, I chased to get within 3s then popped. I survived a bunch of attacks then attacked in the esses and stuck it.

Back on Zwift again today with the snow still falling. I did the ZZRC2 ride, thinking that it would play out like most other Zwift rides and races and require a significantly higher effort than advertised. It wasn't, so I rolled around at recovery pace for a while until the ZZRC1 field came around. I bridged up to them and rode for a while. It was a good group at the right pace once I was warmed up. In the last 2km I fought to stay at the front and took 2nd in their sprint.

I'll ride Zwift tomorrow morning before heading to NJ for a few days with no bike.

Today's coaching group ride cancelled due to 50mph wind. Back to the basement for me tonight. I guess I'll be doing 3x10LTs on Zwift if anyone wants to play.

Not if you live on a mountain...

It's a nicely done climb. Want to ride it from the backside. But: starting to look like Spring here. Might be hanging the trainer up.

Did a Hard 26 mile zwift EVR B Race . Fastest MPH I have ever done. Averaged just over 25 MPH on my smart trainer. They got me catted up to B now and I came in 6 out of 8 at this pace. Zwift is fast and hard. I find that for a strong one hour workout, the zwift races just cant be beat. My heart rate gets up above 150 and stays there. The competition of the other races causes you to push really hard.

The Zwift races are great. So much better than just spending time on a boring trainer. If you haven't got on zwift yet, give it a try. It helps to be able to train in all kinds of weather and keeps your fitness up.

I did the ZTR (C) race tonight, 3/24. Its hard. No coasting. Lots of attacks. Zwift has really doubled down on the racing this year, and it's great. You can join the race when you log in and it puts you on the line. You can warm up on a virtual trainer before the race start. The standings on the right only show the riders in your race so you can track who is attacking and who is getting dropped. It's so much better than last year. I blew the sprint setup. I should have gone before the chicane. Next time.

Nice! Sorry for the lack of notice. The description for the ZSUN ride is that it's a social B ride.... which meant that it was pretty hard for me. Not race-like sprint efforts but a lot of Z3/4.

Did the CRS C race yesterday, celebrating 60 years on this earth Made the split early on, then got gapped over one of the rollers second time through and just could not catch back on. Man you have to really pay attention. Caught then dumped by a second group on the road just to add insult. Managed to hang on for a less than stellar 19/62. Still had 900W left in me across the line. I gotta quite all the JRA and train a little

I'm going to do the ZTR (B) race at 6pm tonight. This will be my first race as a B. If the lead group is consistently hammering at 5+ I will let them go and form up with the second group. It makes no sense to kill myself to stick at the front when I could be getting a complete workout farther back.

BRS (C) today. 13/60. Picked a good group from the start which seems to be key. I'm tending to waste a little energy surging up short hills, and getting gapped when coming up on slower riders. Have to work on that. Gassed at the end, didn't set up my sprint well at all.

BRS C again Sunday. 11/54 on the original Island loop. Lead group split 2nd time up the hill and I was too far back to get across. Sat between 2 groups for a while then caught a couple riders who fell off the one in front. Gapped them last time through the rollers and held that to the line.

A lot more over under than the last race. Easy week then I'm adding a little more structure.

I did a Sub3 today led by a woman, that was actually sub 3. I was surprised, as the last Sub3 I did was 3-4 just sitting in. Sprints were encouraged. I sucked.

I just started using it. I went for a ride in London, where it was nice and sunny, while it was chucking it down in Santa Crud:

That ride led by Alexis is usually better. Last Thursdays ride was painful for us who ride at threshold the whole time. I bailed early. May try again tonight.

A couple easy rides that I've had good luck with are ZZRC on Tuesday nights and the TGIF ride on Fridays. Both are pretty big groups that consistently roll as advertised.

wgscott- Hi, welcome. I'm formerly from Santa Cruz. Now in Boulder. Kinda similar except more snow here and the mountain biking is lame.

I think i gave myself an overuse injury on the trainer, took a couple days off, but i'm going to get back on later for some easy spinning to see if it's ok. I get dropped from the Sub3 rides, my FTP is a little over 3.0 but I'm light so when the guys are going 2.5 on the flats I'm at threshold trying to hang on. My only hope for a break is the uphills. I get dropped pretty regularly but it's a great workout trying to hang on, so I'm all for that.

Thanks.

I lived in Boulder, briefly, but I was deported for being too fat and insufficiently blonde. But I did buy my first mountain bike there. After living in Berkeley for six years, I nearly froze to death, and quickly learned why you don't go for a quick ride in the hills to the West without checking the weather first -- the sun turned to rain and then sleet and I found myself at 8000ft with a T-shirt and shorts and effectively no brakes.

You have to take up winter sports there, or other activities.

Yep that seems about right. My husband and I joke we are the only ones in the supermarket check-out line who have not climbed Mt. Everest. I actually live in Longmont, technically, so they let me stay.
