Playing in the snow...
I've never had fun playing in the snow on my bike. I could never get any traction. I'd have to get off and walk my bike thru the snow... Not so any more..
With the addition of some studded snow tires today, riding thru the ice and snow was actually fun!!!
I hit some ice... no problem. I peddled thru some snow. No problem. Gee, this is fun!
If anyone else plays in the snow, I'd love to see pics...

Here's my GT:
I realized that IGHs are so much nicer in winter, so I'm using my Frankenbike instead. Don't have pics of it yet, but it isn't exactly your typical hybrid.
Snow and ice are fun, but riding studded tires on bare pavement isn't. My bikes will feel like rockets once I can put slicks back on.

Snow is what I mainly use my hybrid for. I run Nokian W106 studded tires. Pic from the other day:

Personally I`m finding that bikes are a lot like cars .....

But driving either in 6 to 10 inches of snow after heavy traffic has made the snow a greasy swamp of things is something I`d avoid at all costs. It just isn`t safe because of a general loss of absolute control by everyone raises the risks too much.
We got a fair bit of snow here in Montreal today and I figured I`d see how far those Nokian 240s would take me. On the lake I could manage about 4 inches of accumulated snow before the rear tire would spin too much for me to push through it. Six inches of the fresh stuff wasn`t a problem.
But hitting the street on the way back? I took the sidewalk for part of the way and walked part of the way. Lots of accidents in the news that evening and happy to say - I wasn`t one of them!
So how do you put a ski rack on a bicycle anyway?
