Tour de Cure today.....
I rode the Tour de Cure today in DFW. It was a good day for a bike ride. At one of the rest stops, I was talking to a volunteer and she said she was happy to see so many older folks riding. I asked her what her definition of older was, she said over 30. I looked around and there were very few under 30 or even under 40 there. She probably thought it was a miracle I made it.
The first couple of miles were around the track inside the speedway and that is always a thrill. The sunflower field was new, the last couple of years they had the normal crops. Quite a few riders were stopping for photos. It was an out and back with predominantly downhill/tailwind for return trip. It could not have been much better.

Glad you had a good time. I'm 51 and rode the TDC in indy today and we could not have had a nicer day for it. I rode around the track and did 20 laps for a total of 50 miles. My longest ride prior to this was 23 miles last weekend so I'm a happy camper.

I was out there also, riding with Team Red, (diabetic). It was a good ride, except for that dang stretch of chip and seal, that stuff was rough.
Running loops on TMS after the main route was finished was fun, was going for a century but the legs and stomach had other ideas, ended up at 81 miles.

A buddy and I were out there as well. My first charity ride. We did the 32, and I agree with Dave about the chip seal. I wasn't aware there would be cobbles on the route!

Glad to hear you had a great ride. About a month ago I rode as a red rider in the Pittsburgh Tour de Cure. I rode 50 miles of hilly terrain. Even though I was an old guy on a comfort hybrid, I was able to keep up with most of the younger riders who were primarily on road bikes.

I'm going to use this!
I ride for my wife. In the past, the rider numbers have had a place on them to write who you were riding for. Not this year, so I borrowed a marker and wrote it in. I have the deepest respect for those of you that ride with Diabetes. Someday, maybe a cure.
