funny the "buyer" didn't perform.
I messaged seller to ask what happened
no reply yet.
This sort of thing happened to me twice last month on the same bike. Either someone was running me up or the reserve was way higher than the other bidder or I would go.

Oh no no no! I mean it happened to me twice on the same bike, but not your same bike. This was a Tommassini (I think) that had upright bars and a porteur rack in NYC. Brooklyn, I think (bad memory these days). It would get listed, get a few bids, and then run out of time or dropped and relisted. If it wasn't a shill setup, I expect that the seller had the reserve set way too high. Essentially the components and everything else was crap and the frame was the only thing worth the cash IIRC.

I hear what you are saying about seller trustworthiness. It doesn't take much for me to grow dubious.

Miyata triplecross!

I want one of these!
But I'm moving across the country and I can't justify adding to the stable right now, despite it being priced SO right!

He wants $70.00

Was it a fairly tall Cannondale ST, per chance? There's one that's been listed at $50 for several auction cycles now, and I've been eyeballing it, despite it being far too large for me, and I see it's been taking bids, but never going above $55.

Sticker on head tube is definitely a Gitane. lack of cable guides suggests pre-'80, styling cues suggest late-70s. Probably a cheap one based on the turkey levers, I suspect an Olympic Record I / II. All hi-ten. Looks like a lot of work, although the barcons are probably Suntour and if operable it's worth the ask.

Some zoom action.

Based on the ad copy, the seller appears to be somewhat knowledgeable.
I can facilitate if anyone is interested.

https://lasvegas.craigslist.org/bik/...039250271.html

"This bike really looks a lot like a Schwinn World Voyageur. The serial number doesn't seem to work into the Schwinn criteria. The World Voyageur being the first Japanese made Schwinn, maybe this was also made by Panasonic. The headset is loose, the tires need replaced. The bike is surprisingly light. Frame has Suntour dropouts, Dura Ace cranks and pedals, Campy shifters, Dia Compe brakes.
Low ball offers will be ignored reasonable offers will be entertained.
Terms of sale are cash in person."

Unique stabilizing blade just fore of the "cheese-grater" rear tire...

I think it's possibly something different. Bike I was talking about I think is ending tonight, no bids this time. You really screw yourself when you run an auction with a reserve multiple times in a row and bidders can't hit or get close to the reserve in any attempt, it's the fastest way to drive off your dedicated watchers and usher in a flock of people you probably don't want buying your stuff in my personal experience. It's at that point, with multiple failed reserve-locked listings, I think it's fair to realize your "barn find" doesn't have as much value as you think it does (it's gorgeous, don't get me wrong!! maybe poorly listed). For the bike I'm talking about, it's eBay item 283705384936 . I'd love to have it, but I need one size smaller @60 vs. this 63.

Meanwhile, here's a PX-10 in great looking shape at first glance, fair price at $350 BIN if you're local and the seller allows pick-up: https://www.ebay.com/itm/202854427523

Agreed. I watch lots of stuff I'll never buy, both on CL and eBay. It surprises me how many times people will repost the same item without ever changing any of the price parameters. Maybe they aren't paying attention or really aren't interested in selling.

I can't help but think it's the bolded part there... But maybe they're hoping for someone to reach out with an offer too. Never know someone's motivation without asking. I will say, though, the bike looks awesome. It's just too damn tall for me.

And on the topic of CDales, two in really great shape. Smaller ST has a bit of damage to the rear NDS DO, maybe the nick in the tube is a concern?

Near-mint SR500 that's really dang tall (63) in Bloomington IN, $450 BIN price @ https://www.ebay.com/itm/283712853805

And an equally-mint but slightly smaller (58?) same colored ST400 for $350 BIN in Apple, WI @ https://www.ebay.com/itm/124005766743
