New to me - De Rosa Professional
Thanks to the eBay/Craigslist thread here, I found this bike. After two months for sale, I was surprised it was still there. Turns out that there was something wrong with the phone number link. I finally did manage to speak with the owner. He's a Schwinn guy but saw it at an estate sale and thought it was nice. I am pretty sure it's 1984 Professional. The groupset looks original to me but I would like anyone's input. RD has PAT 84 and the crank has a 4 in the little circle. It has the wrong wheels so I can't check the lock nuts for a date. But my research is consistent with an 84. It came with tri bars (which I took off). I will be looking for the right wheel set and seat. From what I have seen, the wheels were probably Mavic GP 4 tubulars on Campagnolo Super hubs? Anyone agree or disagree with that? Anyone know what seat it originally came with?

My DeRosa has Mavic GP4 tubular rims.
I believe mine to be '86ish.

That is really nice. That color is less common. I had thought that ‘84 had different logo with the stripes at both ends. I think an ‘84 would be SL whereas an ‘85, like rjhammet’s would be SLX. You can check for the little spiral ridges inside the seat tube or down tube at the bottom bracket. At any rate, good find and welcome to the club!

I just built a wheelset with Mavic GP4 rims for a Pinarello I'm restoring. I guess I need to be on the look out for some rims.
rjhammett - no surprise that I like the color of your bike!

Awesome bike, I posted this on the "Are you looking for one of these? " awhile back. I called the guy and tried to make a deal but no dice, he wanted the cash. He sells a lot of bikes to Southeast michigan, he's a flipper. He likes to talk bikes if you call him, nice fella.

Nice score. If you decide to go C-Record, I have a surplus of hubs/wheels.

Thanks Johnnybikes. So glad you added it to the thread which is how I found it.
shoota, I paid $800 for the bike. It is the color I wanted and it is my size. I took others advice and I’m happy I did. It’s in much better shape than the Craigslist photo would have you think.
