Show us your (Pre 1970's) drop bar Raleigh!!
I think we need a thread just for early Raleigh sporting machines, bring out your Clubmen, your Lenton's, your Gran Sports and other steeds. Anything before the Boom.
Let's set the cutoff for this one at 1972 the last year for the script Raleigh decals.
My early 60's Gran Sport.
And the '71(?) Super Course.

- After seeing Neal's beauties, it's a little intimidating to be the next one to post, but here goes:
First, my '72 Super Course in bronze green with a DA crank and Challenger DR:
- And my coffee '72 Super Course, with original cotered cransk and a Suntour VxGT. Shifts like butter!

Keep it up folks! Nice bikes!
I (REALLY) want a Lenton!
But my next project is getting the '68-'70 Carlton built Grand Prix together.

As a 1972, this Super Course makes it in just under the wire. She is all OEM, right down to the cables, bar tape, and tires.

Artsy photo of my '58 Lenton Grand Prix. I took this and two other photos for the photo challenge thread:
Not to let the cat out of the bag or anything, but in a moment of weakness I have now bought a Raleigh Record Ace frame on ebay, which is supposed to be a '48 and should make the Grand Prix more or less redundant (same size). So I'm probably going to have to sell the one in the photo. Andrew, it's too small for you, but if you want it....

Definately an overdue thread. Attached is a pic of my Raleigh Trent Sports. I'm not sure of the exact year but I'm guessing, from Retro Raleighs etc, that it's around the early 60's. I've had new wheels built around an S/A FW rear hub and Raleigh front hub with Panaracer Pasaela Tour Guard tires. Rides really nice for an old bike....but I'm an old guy too. PG.

Still have no idea what I'm going to do with this guy. Didn't notice until later that it had the lovely kickstand marks to the frame.

Are the chain-stays that severely damaged from the kickstand? If so, it may be a lost cause (we don't want them buckling beneath us! ) But if not, it would be worth refinishing in some very British colours.
(Notice how I even spelled "colours"? )
- Obviously you'll need to find some old center-pulls and levers - Though GB's are probably correct, I would think some Mafac Racers would look great too; Rebuild the wheels. . . Top it off with a Brooks and cloth bar tape, or some torpedo grips.
Could be quite a remarkable before and after!

Yup. -and I suspect there are a lot of lurkers out there with pre-73 Raleighs who have not yet posted.
Got a bigger picture?
( If you were really that old, you would understand we all need new bifocals after trying to make out any detail there.)

My '66 or '67 Raleigh Carlton. I removed the Raleigh decals and seat tube pane shortly after I bought it new as a young teen and I replaced the 27" clinchers with tubular rims and tires while in college. I've no better pictures, I'll have to take some. Does anyone have an extra chainwheel bolt for the Williams cottered crankset? How about an English threaded brake cable barrel adjuster to fit the GB handlebar stem?

I've got some cottered cranks. I wonder if any of the bolts would work for you.

Almost forgot this one. Found it in the recycle bin. Gave it to a forum guy. It was just like his first bike so he paid to ship it across the country. Gaspipe Raleighs do that to a guy.
