It may go without saying... but... write down your position measurements and bring a small tape measure for the rental bike. It'll save you a lot of stopping and tweaking by the side of the road.

ive been thinking about bringing my tubular wheelset but im concerned about flatting those and being out of luck.
My concern with my cross bike is ive rarely road it over 60 minutes and those are always races so I dont know what it would be like riding for 9 hours.
My main bike is a caad9 and im worried that would be too brutal out there.

Wider tires would probably help, as i'm on 23C's. I also keep my pressure around 110-120psi, as most of my riding is on tarmac and I weigh 165ish.
If you're looking to actually enjoy riding on cobblestones, ride something steel or carbon.

thanks dude. im just going to bring my caad 9 and maybe get 25c tires. i was definitely over thinking things. now im just trying to decide on whether or not to buy a soft case in hopes of getting around paying the bike fee to bring it on the plane.
