It may go without saying... but... write down your position measurements and bring a small tape measure for the rental bike. It'll save you a lot of stopping and tweaking by the side of the road.

My main bike is a caad9 and im worried that would be too brutal out there.
FWIW, I'm based in Kortrijk until April and ride extended periods of cobbles a few times a week over in the vlaams ardennes. I just so happen to ride a CAAD9 as well. Cobbled climbs are totally ridable with minimal discomfort (considering they're cobbles...). There are a couple of wicked sections of cobbles just east of Oudenaarde that feel positively awful, however. I honestly thought my hands were going to be bruised after one multiple km section.

Wider tires would probably help, as i'm on 23C's. I also keep my pressure around 110-120psi, as most of my riding is on tarmac and I weigh 165ish.

If you're looking to actually enjoy riding on cobblestones, ride something steel or carbon.

That sucks. You can't transfer the tickets to a different date?

even if you don't fly, they will almost always allow you to transfer that credit to a different day.
better to ask and maybe them say yes than be out the money and not ask
