76 miles with my youngest!
What a Trooper! 37 miles into a huge 30+ mph headwind, and then home. The bridge at the Farmington River is a great rail trail destination. Happy spring!

I was once told, more than once, that enjoy those precious times together as the time goes really fast. You know what? They were right and it really hits home when they are gone off to college.
Your youngster may enjoy browsing (motivational reinforcement) through the stories about riding with the kids, written later on by one of my daughters in her sassy teenage entertaining style!

Awesome ride and memory. I assume you rode the Farmington canal trail? Our daughter lives in West Haven not far from that end of your route. How did you get from west haven to the canal trail? We have brought our tandem on many visits but always ended up not riding as we don’t know the area and it is fairly congested relative to our local routes. (Got to keep the stoker happy.)
if the route from west haven to the trail is not great, can you recommend a launch point at the trail? And where is the bridge you mention? TIA

One can ride for the West Haven beach to New Haven via a pretty good bike route. The East Coast Greenway picks up right past the Kimberly Avenue Bridge. That bridge is still not great — recommend walking over it with your bikes if there is any trepidation.
It really depends on where y’all are starting in WH.
