If ever im going to spend money for fork, i'll limit the budget to just $120-$150. More than that ill say sayonara to the bike.
Surly forks are 110. Salsa are 130. I put the surly Ogre on mine because i don't have disk brakes.

Assessed what needs to be replaced to my Roam. She's a bit beaten up. Lots of scratches from numerous Century rides and tours for the past 2 yrs only. Around 5000miles on its gears. Would like to sell it But nobody will buy it for the price that I want and also me not lying that she's n great condition. So sentiments prevail I am going to upgrade it. 1. Carbon rigid fork and handlebar will be in order. 2. 29ers disc wheelset, gears and tires 3. Of course, disc brakes. Calculated the cost at around $300.
Looking forward on using it for next yr's DK200.

What's the rear dropout spacing on your Roam?

EDIT: I measured the spacing of the hub on the original wheel and it's 135 on my 2011 Roam-2. FYI.

A shorter distance here physically lowers the front of the frame and, as that happens, the head tube angle becomes steeper (more towards 90 degrees. This can sometimes make the bike feel a little odd.

Suspension-corrected forks are longer rigid forks that have a similar axle-to-crown distance as suspension forks so, after you swap, your geometry remains about the same.
I mentioned this in a similar Roam thread but the Nashbar Full Carbon 29er Fork (Item# NB-C29F) works extremely well with this bike.
