Bike Shopping Burnout
It set in today. It has been 12 years since the last journey but this one was like driving into a brick wall.
I was close to writing a check for an Emonda SLR 7 that was in the box not yet built in a fabulous blue with tiger stripes.
😢

I think you should re-evaluate your priorities. The bike was there, and you were there... I assume it was the correct size? You had your checkbook? Are you waiting for a sign from the heavens? If it were me, I'd be there at opening time tomorrow.

Disappointing. All the talk about various custom Italians was exciting, then a Trek? Then nothing....

These days, if it's there, fits, and you want it, better jump on it before it's gone! May not be there the next day.

Reminds me of a few weeks ago i was taking a break at the trailhead of a bike path. Two guys were talking and one complaining that his wife bought a $500 handbag. He was riding a Specialized Tarmac with Di2, so I asked "does you wife know how much you paid for that bike?" He said "point taken" and they started talking politics... so i got up and road away.

Hmmm, GF 30 years younger.... Unless you are in Utah or Appalachia that's going to make you an AARP eligible Senior Citizen. You may as well get the bike, odds are you'll die in the saddle one way or the other.

Now for me, i'm old and married so i'm spending everything and leaving nothing behind. I can't take it with me, but I can spend before I go.

Edit: I've had that young gf, and they are a lot of fun, but eventually you get back to riding the bike.

I don't like Trek and their new hideous AeroBillboards that you pay for are not something I would buy or ride but YOU SHOULD GO FOR IT! Those people who hem and haw and then don't get what they want are just silly. Get what you want, enjoy life ride like hell or at least just stare at it a bunch in your house.
I see it all the time, they are waiting for something or they think a magical sale fairy will come through and drop the price to something ridiculous and then they come back a month later and their dream is gone. If you liked the bike go for it and go for it now. Buy the girlfriend whatever.
