Well, I have acquired a 1990's Bianchi, I'm not so sure on the model though, it's in pretty rough cosmetic shape. The original owner had a mash-up of parts on it, none of them particularly good. It had a Shimano cartridge bottom bracket, but it was installed BACKWARDS!!! Yes, the cartridge was installed the WRONG way!!! Well, I chased the threads, in the BB shell, and it turned out good (Thankfully!)

The only component worth keeping was the crankset, I'm not sure the model, but it didn't look bad, but it was painted an ugly silver color. So I stripped and polished it, I think it looks good, but let's see what the man him self (Khatfull) thinks.

I pulled it of that Trek 7000 I posted a while ago about. I finished the bike, and I would have posted pictures, but my girlfriend was so happy with it, it left my possession a bit earlier than I expected.



Oh, yes, and here is the Bianchi frame. I have completely stripped it down to the bare frame (Even the headset. Never done that before.) It is pretty light, and has a Tange Cro-Mo sticker on it, and it's a Bianchi, so it can't be bad. I'm going to build it into a mountain bike soon. It is currently in need of a repaint, but I'm in no hurry.



Any info on the Bianchi would be appreciated (Bianchigirl: I'm calling on you! lol.)

not a bad frame. it looks like it has 'SuperLuggs'? looks to be a '95 to '97ish Superset2 of course. the nyala was usually a real nice MTB usually specced just below Deore, Exage Mtn, STX whatever. I'll double check for you when I get home. is there a tubing materiel sticker?

Thanks for the quick reply Bianchigirl, the tubing sticker is kind of messed up, but I can make out Tange for certain, the seatpost is a 26.6 is that makes any difference. It does have "superlugs" that sticker is in fine shape. I was just looking at the fork and the steer tube is stamped with a 94, so I think it's a 1994, does that sound plausible?

OH yes it does I must have made a typo the superlug came on '94 models. Tange should be real nice DB tubing

What did you finish with abrasive wise, you look to have somewhat of a satin finish and that's something I've been working on. I went down to the local co-op and got a couple beater crank arms and have been experimenting with various things...sandpapers, steel wools, bronze wools...trying to quantify what kind of finish each thing (and grit/finenesss) leaves.

On a sad note on the maiden voyage of the Tiara tonight I threw the chain off the outside and scratched up the DS crank! ACK! I wanted to redo it anyway, yeah, that's what I tell myself (look for a separate thread on the maiden flight).

I used some 0000 steel wool with some Mothers Aluminum and Mag polish to get that look. I may disassemble it and go for the full-on Khatfull look, but I'm not sure yet, I was working my way down with progressively finer grades of sandpaper, and then steel wool, and I stopped at 0000 and said, "hey, I like it" so the progression didn't go any further.

That's too bad about your Tiara, I guess that's what you get for making all of us C & V folks jealous with your amazing Fuji.
