I'd love to make up a t-shirt that says:
"Fook YOUR GAS WASTING PRIUS.
get a bike!!"
On my back.
Think there is a market for it?

Where's the fun in that? If people 'need' a car for whatever, let them have it. But it should better be a Prius or a hybrid of some sort (Civic or whatever) than a car that REALLY messes with the ecosystem.

Yeah but it's the same thing to me.
They are still doing what SUV drivers do... just less of it.
And i think its funny to poke fun at their self-importance with my own self-importance.

I ride my bike to work pretty much every day. When I take the kids (ages 4 and 6) somewhere, we drive our Prius which we bought off a Toyota pre-owned lot. We have a Honda mini-van too, but it hasn't been out of the garage in over a month.
If you're going to single out car drivers, I'd hope that Prius drivers would be relatively low on your list.

I drive an SUV...it's a Subaru. It pollutes less than a hybrid. So every time I drive by a loser in a Prius who over-paid for a tiny little car, I give them an evil little stare that says "Your car pollution is ruining my ecosystem." But nobody ever understands that stare...I think it still needs work.

well that's my point. prius people buy a brand much like ipod/mac folks.
They assume it gives them a certain degree of "green", if it does or not.

Nobody will understand your stare because the two people who might care about it are not mind readers.
Maybe you should focus more on the road, and less on trying to feel superior.

The Prius is not a "tiny little car", and so what if your SUV is bigger? And if a Prius's pollution is ruining "your" ecosystem, so is the pollution from your Subaru. All this discussion about x car vs. y car is silly anyway because it almost always seems to fail to consider the amount of usage. To paraphrase James Howard Kunster, the problem isn't so much about what types of cars we're driving, but more that we drive every type of car there is incessantly.

I try to ride my bike locally to relieve gas expenses and better my health. I have nothing against using a car. In fact I will use one today.
Don't hate on cars, suv's or trucks... You had no problem with them when they shipped your bikes or anything else you may find useful in your life.
If people want to drive... so be it. If people want to bike... so be it. It's all good.

I dont understand why you would judge others on your standards. It seems a bit self rightous to me. I own a pickup truck and econo box yet ride my bike to work. I pick the vehicle I need based on my needs for the day. I am using way less gasoline than I was two years ago or even a year ago.

Personally, I don't see what all the fuss is with how many drops or gallons of gas you use. It's such a narrow, tiny focus compared to the myriad benefits afforded by bike commuting (fun, relaxation, health, community interaction just to name a few)

That's assuming that nothing they buy for themselves or their horse ever touches motorized transportation. Good luck with that.

If you ment Kunstler, good for you. I also read him often. Love the title of his blog.
I have always loved watching the big gas guzzlers filling their tanks. Seems to me that's a lot of power and weight to transport a 160lb person. Not very economical, or smart. But if they are ok paying it? Good for them.

Prius owners should be poked fun at at all opportunities. It upsets their sense of moral superiority over non-hybrid drivers. Besides a silly lookin car like that is begging to be pointed and laughed at.
