Trek 7.6 FX ($200) VS Jamis Coda Comp ($150)
I'm looking to buy a bike for general use. After looking at a couple of bikes on Craigslist, I have found two that I like. I am trying to decide between the two.
TREK 7.6 FX probably 2010/2004 for ($200) or Jamis Coda Comp probably 2003 for ($150). Which one do you guys recommend?

Comparing these 2 bikes:

I like the Jamis because it's steel (Reynolds 520) and has v-brakes - I just prefer those features.
But if you can test ride both I'd got with the one that fits best (that's priority 1).

Thank you for your response. What is the advantage of steel and v-brakes? I'm new to bikes, so do not know the differences. I would like a lighter bike. Which one you think will be lighter?

I asked the seller about Jamis and he said it’s aluminum body with carbon fork.

Check them both out and go for a ride. The Jamis gets points for not being a Trek. Everyone has a Trek. *yawn*

I would suggest the Jamis. I had a Ventura comp and liked it better than my much newer carbon bike. Either will serve you well as they are both well built bikes.

Those both look like pretty great bikes. The higher end hybrids are rarer.

Both bikes are pretty closely matched. I'd second the test ride them both idea. Do you have links to the Craigslist ads you can post? Maybe one is in better condition than the other.
