40 more miles today; 25 with my buddy and 15 solo. Hot and humid with some wind that really wasn't enough to cool you down.

23.4 miles (37.7k) at a moderate pace, rarely over 15mph. Another beautiful day.

20 miles, cold, windy, clouds forbidding. Tomorrow is predicted to be warmer and sunny, so I cut ride short today.

Today's ride was 19.51 miles. Took a couple of shot next to the Lake.

15 miles Friday night after wasting all day waiting for a package delivery. Relaxing ride, trying out some makeshift padding on the drop bars before ordering some proper padding. Used some mountain bike face guard bar pads, trimmed and attached to the Centurion drop bars with ace wrap and white duct tape. Worked surprisingly well, enough to persuade me to buy some proper pads. Much easier on my aching wrists and elbows, especially on chipseal.

40 miles on a group ride. Rolled out at 7:10, so beat most of the heat.

The last long ride I had with my buddy, Frankie, was our century ride on June, 30th. Since neither of us had anything pressing to do today, we rode 60 easy miles on a really hot and humid morning. My buddy Steve came along so we could have more subjects to talk about.

32.3 miles (52.0k). Took the new(er) Roubaix out with a riding buddy to Mayberry Park. Started at 8AM to avoid the heat. It's amazing how fit he is having just had his 80th birthday. Beautiful ride.

Made it out at 2:17AM on the Paramount for segment 1. 77F, HIGH humidity = soaking wet after 52 miles. Jumped in the pool, swam a few laps, rinsed chlorine off, fresh kit, quick bite, then out on the Giant to LBS for a sufferfest. Lots of 23mph to 28mph now under the sun. Absolutely brutal but got another 55 miles for 107 total.

Bastille Day (My stoker's birthday): Bike commuted 19 miles.
Today: 27 solo miles on the ti bike. Rode the opposite direction of the RAIN ride for a couple of miles - saw at least a hundred of them. A couple of them told me I was going the wrong way. They all looked pretty good for being just shy (I think) of halfway into a 164 mile cross-Indiana ride.

30 miles. Thought about going 35, which my training schedule called for, but glad I cut it short, since the trip home was against the wind. The wind was totally demoralizing, since it was totally unexpected - Wunderground said 3 mph winds.
First consecutive 20 (or more) days in years. First 50 mile weekend (Fri-Sun) and first 100 mile week since 2015. First goal is 45.99 miles before August 1 (that's 74 km, age + 1.). I'm pretty sure I can do it now, but I'd like a couple of 35ers and even a 40 before I do this month's long one.

The winds were pretty decent last Saturday along the Lakefront Trail (our first visit to beautiful Chicago). Now back in FL, our windy season (which I didn't even know existed) is over, but of course the heat is on. Demoralizing is an apt term for relentless winds, but I've learned to make a game of it 😀.

20.15 miles on the Trek hybrid, at an average speed of 14.4 mph. For me, this represents a breakthrough, as it's the first time in the past year that I've done over 15 and felt like I could keep going. In fact, got back near my house, and kept adding loops until I got to 20. I still had energy, but was out of water at 14 miles, and was beginning to feel dehydrated, so quit.
My 'training' is 8-9 miles commutes, typically 3-4 days a week, averaging a max of 11.4 mph, but it was hard to tell if the persistence way paying off, as I wasn't really getting faster (although my perception was that I was recovering faster.)
What should be more important to me (I keep telling myself) is that I have a good chance of hitting my goal of 20+ days out of the month with at least enough exercise to break a sweat. That is what really helps keep my stress levels down, and the corners of my mouth turned up.
But durned if it didn't feel good to hit 20, and feel like I could have kept going!

22 miles Saturday evening. I was supposed to be taking it easy after some consecutive hill interval days this week, but ended up faster than usual on some hill segments. Lowered the handlebar stem a bit to compensate for the thicker padding I added the other day for comfort. Much easier on my wrists and elbows. Core strength is coming along okay, so I'm not just leaning heavily on my arms. Just too much riding on rough chipseal and busted up pavement.

62.8 Just over a Metric Century The same ride as 2 days ago with a few extra miles. Over 3000' climbing, which a few years ago was just a warm up, now it's tiresome..

Out early again, this time 42 solo miles. Very humid and heat building quickly, glad I got it done early, and at a brisk pace. Degreased, oiled and washed the bike, and charging all the electronics for a possible ride late this afternoon. Managed 135 miles for the week, not bad considering how busy work has been.

We did what is known as the "Acton Loop" yesterday. It's about 80 miles and 8000 Feet of climbing. But climbing was only part of the issue. It was 100F+ and pretty damn humid, so it chewed us up pretty good.
Here we are at the top of Mill Summit. It's all downhill from there to lunch, but into a desiccating hot wind, even that was a bit of a sufferfest.

Miserably hot and humid day today. Got in 40 miles that took just about all I had. A cold shower after the ride felt good but really hasn't helped that much. I'm totally worn out - the heat won!

27.7 miles (44.6k), double ride on the usual bike path. 193 miles/week in June is my personal best. I've ordered this weather for the rest of the year but not sure the order was accepted

Finally got my beloved '85 Fuji Del Rey out for a nice (but hot) 25 mile ride, in the suburbs west of Richmond, VA. I left my house, and rode along River Rd, out past the 288 expressway, turned and rode up through the big business complex called West Creek Pkwy, turned around where it comes back out on Patterson Ave (route 6) and rode all the way back home.
25 miles in 1hr 33min for an avg of 16 mph. Not too bad... I wanted to see if getting more of a breeze from a faster pace would help, but it didn't. I was completely soaked by the time I got back home.
The map layout from MapMyRide
Stopped along Tuckahoe Creek on River Rd.
Turned around and took a photo looking south along Tuckahoe Creek.
...and lastly, I stopped in the shade in West Creek Pkwy right near the 288 expressway overpass.

For non-Virginians, there is a beautiful, paved, 50+ mile "trail" extending from Richmond all the way to Williamsburg (or from the historic Colonial Williamsburg to downtown Richmond - if coming the other way).

Just passed my 70th birthday.
Spend my weekends mowing the lawn then the rest of the day watching golf on TV.
Last year, in an attempt to get me off the couch, the kids bought me a bike (Trek Verve 2).
My first ride was approx 2.5 miles.....gasping for breath, legs turned to rubber, thought I was going to die. Spent the rest of the week recuperating.
The following weekend I was able to ride 5 whole miles before my body refused to go any further.
I am now up to 8 mile journeys almost every night, weather and temperature permitting. I must still stop frequently when going up hills to let my legs return to normal. But I am slowly getting into shape. I am 5'8" and weigh 125 lbs.
Not exactly in best shape of my life.
Went to the local bike shop this afternoon and bought front and rear lights, a bike computer, a water bottle and cage to hold it. I'll keep you all posted on my progress.

Got 42 miles in today. Nice and calm out but the humidity here in eastern NC is just miserable. Also had to take the MTB out, my Raleigh had a flat and of course my spare tube was dead also.
