52 km with my wife, total 680 m climb, including the very inaptly named "Joy Hill" I mentioned last week. The legs were tired today. I did a 68 km ride last Friday, 1010 m vertical, including up Mt. Sutton, in the closest thing we have to a European col here, 6.3 km, category 2, around 400 metres up, average grade 6%, max over 17%, lots of 10-12%. Got caught in the rain too. Nice cold steady rain. So today the legs were still feeling the effects of all that. I won't be in the Tour de France in this lifetime...

Centennial Trail (Snohomish County, WA) from Snohomish to the Skagit County line and back; 60 miles; gorgeous day - mid 70s. No rain for the last 26 days.

Kudos to you, Bob, getting out there and riding. In 2012 I weighed 270lbs age 66 when I started riding an old MTB (Mountain Bike). 12mph was break-neck speed. Several road bikes later I'm 71, 203lbs, I average 24 miles a day (everyday) @16-18mph and could do more, but you don't have to ride fast. Keep at it, it does pay off. I'm in so much better health now.

24.4 miles (39.3k) on a beautiful day. The air was actually cool on the skin at 8AM. Still have my 78yo lady friend from Kiwanis Bikes in tow so I'm a little slower than usual (14mph).

36 miles Monday, including some after noon that I probably could have skipped. Awful hot. Good ride though. The new tires feel faster, although I am not.

It was actually a decent late afternoon ride, temp and humidity were not bad at all. A flat derailed my 40 mile solo ride a bit, but I managed 30+ at a really good clip. Good time.

Temperature and humidity was pretty decent this morning. Started off as a 40 mile ride with my buddy, Frank C, but somewhere along the line we decided to add some more miles and ended up with a 50 mile ride only because it started drizzling and the radar showed a very nasty storm headed our way.

Making up for lost time, I rode twice today! ~23 mile hilly ride with the fast kids from my Club early this morning, then hopped in the shower, changed into a new kit, grabbed a different bike, and rode to work. (~19 miles round-trip) Wait, once I ride home that'll be three rides today!

2 segments today. 2:37AM start for 52 miles on the Paramount then back home to change into dry kit and change bike for faster club riding. Got back out at 8:07 on the Propel for an additional 53 miles before all said and done.

Started out aiming for 40, but turned around 15 miles out under threatening skies, and got caught in heavy rain, then finally pretty bad thunderstorms. Tried waiting it out, but no end was in sight from the lightning, so called the rescue wagon. My wife saw the skies and had started worrying....she was glad to come get me.

Temperature was in the mid 80°s, I was going to take it easy today, but was out in an area where I had spotted a road on Google maps I'd never been on before. It was very rural, smooth asphalt, with beautiful scenery. The road kept going on and on, so I did too. 55 miles, I'll rest tomorrow.
Hard to make out, but there are 4 snow caped mountains in the distance.

I was all set to do a good 40 mile ride with my buddy this morning but it didn't work out that way. Four miles into the ride and my left eye started getting a little puffy and I was feeling some pressure behind it. It's been two weeks since the cataract surgery and not having this problem when I had my right eye done, it sort of worried me. Dropped the speed down to around 10-12 mph and rode the loop back to the van. 11 miles for today. Called the ophthalmologist and now waiting for a return call.

I did a short community ride yesterday and was humbled.

We do these to encourage new cyclists and to show the cycling flag to drivers. We literally have a trailer with a banner.

We had a 15 km run on city streets and around an urban lake that used to be a quarry.

The ride leader was 76, a former time trialist, and although we are not riding fast (we had newbies on mountain bikes), he rode 15 kms to get there and was in no way winded.

My regular riding partner came along, he is 65. I'm 56.

And we were joined by a mid 30s woman. On a mountain bike. With a broken front derailleur so she only had the middle 7 gears. And even when we sprinted to the end she was right with us two older gents with road bikes, me on vintage steel, my friend on a carbon bike.

A nice pre twilight turn around Professsor's Lake in Brampton.

And a new riding partner found.

30.2 miles (48.6k). I just felt good today. A little cool to start, about 63° (arm warmers) but an overall good ride. Now I'm off to see the rheumatologist.

Legs still sore after Monday's hard midday ride. Took a leisurely 10 mile ride around the neighborhood and walked nearly a mile in the grocery store while shopping. Legs still dead. Might need to take it easy for a couple of days. June may be catching up with me -- I rode more days without a break in June than any month since I resumed riding in 2015.

24.3 miles (39.1k). Good visit with RA Doc yesterday, renewed meds, blood draw, all is (reasonably) well. I'm gonna live to 90 just to spite these sons-a-guns. Still riding with friend from Kiwanis, getting her in shape of 40-50 milers in Aug so I'm riding slower (no biggie). The past few days have been quite smoky from nearby fires, but overall another good riding day.

Today's ride was only 15.63 miles. It's the middle of July but it rained pretty hard on me for the first part of the ride and then the wind blew in my face for the second half.
I am glad to have that ride done, but also glad I made the ride.

Come to think of it, I have never come home from a ride that I wasn't happy I went riding.

Got in 2 segments of 56 miles each. A pre-ride route check for next Wednesday's Pete Cornell Memorial Ride. Will be 5 years since a semi hit/killed him at a little over 700 miles from completing his Prudhoe Bay to Key West ride.
