Very trick approach to clown wheels, plus a disc brake.

When you're a better fabricator than wheel builder.

probably shouldn’t but I will often notify seller that I would like to pay $8800 for the item. Backhand way of telling them the charges are too high. Not everyone would do this.

The Ditmas Park bike flipper here in Brooklyn now has 126 bikes on Craigslist at once! They're all used, mostly vintage road bikes. How does he do it? Does anyone else even come close?

A closer look at some of his offerings:

This seller does really stand out, every time I do a nationwide search I end up looking at bikes that are his. Must own a building, can't imagine paying for that storage space in NYC.

Ditmas Park is a neighborhood of big--some really big--houses. If he lives in one of those it would make sense. I asked to see a bike once but never actually did. It would be interesting if one could get him talking but I would feel guilty about wasting his time under false pretenses.

The pretenses don't have to be false (or even pretenses): "Hey, I see you have an amazing collection of bikes posted on CL. I love bikes, and love looking at bikes and talking about bikes. I'm not in the market for anything right now, but I'd love to meet up some time and browse your collection"

There's a good chance he'd be up for it (as long as you avoid sounding like somebody who just wants to case his joint to rob it)

Yeah, I'm not sure I'd be up for that. Aside from seeing where and how he stores all those bikes, I can see them all on Craigslist already. Also, I know he catches grief online about taking over Craigslist like that, as well as his generally high prices, so I'm guessing he'd be wary of anything that seemed like an interview. Maybe not.

I did a search and found this written about him on ******:

So I've helped two friends buy bikes through that guy. He has a huge inventory in this garage. From what he told me he's sourcing bikes off craigslist in PA, CT, NJ for cheap then upselling them in the city. IMO he is selling at an inflated price, but he is traveling pretty far and does prep each bike to be road-ready. There's also a huge demand right now. (This was probably during Covid.) FWIW he is willing to negotiate. The last time I looked at bikes down at his place we took a lot of time trying out a few and I could tell he wanted to sell, so he was willing to come down 80 bucks.

Edit: It's interesting that you're not allowed to write ****** here. DOH!

yeah, I never understood why ****** is censored. BF afraid of competition?

But that's interesting. For myself, that satisfies my curiosity enough I wouldn't feel the need to try for an IRL meetup

The ad title is what got me, sort of the metaphysical reason behind our collective dedication to the mechanism. Actually, a great price on a Norco hybrid that needs a little work.

This has been up for some time. I've asked the seller if the misspelling in the title is deliberate. You'd think they'd be trying to make it EASIER to find.

I guess there are different levels of "mint condition". Except for the hoods, bar tape, saddle, and chain, looks mint to me. Each bike has a Flickstand. Might be worth it.
