Need a few people to test this bike video and make sure it works
Hi folks,
I have an Ultrapod tripod strapped to my stem and have mounted my digital camera to it. I made a short (15 sec) test movie and posted it to my website. Would some of you please test it and report back here if it works or not? It might be helpful to state what OS and web browser you are using. The video is in Quicktime, and I have a Mac, so just want to make sure it shows fine on PC systems. You may need to have Quicktime installed. Let me know what errors/messages you receive if it does not play. Thanks.
Here is the link. The movie link is under the photos of the bike.
EDIT: Thanks for all those who tested this for me.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. All working (5 of 5) is what I was hoping for. Sorry a 180 degree turn does not make for the best video when compressing the video like I did, but it is the only footage I had to work with.

Worked fine, MAC with OSX 10.3.9. Good quality video, but the low angle, the speed, and the wind noise gave me the impression that you were skate-boarding! (Try to block the wind noise - maybe a thin bit of open-cell foam, like the stuff sometimes used in puffy hats.) By the way, your bike is really elegant-looking. Have a good ride on the Tour.

Windows Me here. Mozilla 1.0.7 Tried to play Quicktime but got message that Quicktime is missing some software not on the Quicktime server. I can't play dvd's either. Maybe I need that codex thing Tom mentioned.

The camera is mounted on the stem, so I don't think I could get a higher angle. Not sure I want to rig up a "helmet cam." And that video was shot at under 10 MPH, just to test. When I take other video it should be between 15-20 MPH. I'll mainly do it in more scenic locations.
As for the wind noise, when I get around to editing the videos, I'll probably mute the camera audio and have music playing in the background, so wind noise won't be a factor. But for the MS150 I may want to use some of the audio, so good idea to put some type of wind barrier on the microphone.

I finally got around to editing and uploading a couple videos of my rides last week when it was in the 70's here in Houston. Use the same link as above to view the videos. Enjoy!
I had that happen to me once at my work internet connection which is slower than my home. I think what happened is that the video is playing while the video is still downloading, and when green splotches occur the video playing is not quite keeping up with the download. The way to fix it is to stop the video (it should still keep downloading) and then start playing again, and it should look fine. At least that worked for me.
