I have a dozen bikes and frames. During the course of a year I usually pick up a few and sell off a few.

Now a friend of mine who lives a 1/2 mile or so away has an absolutely huge collection. Maybe 500 bikes. And I may be underestimating. Really serious collector...everything from Schwinn Stingrays to Cinelli, Carlton, Hetchins. Many are almost showroom new. Its sonething to see.

7 total, not counting 2 e-bikes for She Who Must Be Obeyed. 2 are modern high speed/low drag carbon fiber and 1 is similar but in aluminum. The rest are vintage Italian steel with all Campagnolo. I am currently in Tucson for the winter and brought only 2 Italian steel (Mondonico and Ciocc). Happy with choice.

So not a big collection but still fun.

As a family, our combined total is somewhere close to 50. My mom has the fewest at 4 while my dad's collection has been pared down over the last 10 years to a similar number. I've got about a dozen, maybe as many as 15 while my brother easily has 20, possibly more. That's not counting just bare frames which we actually have surprisingly few of. All of the built up bikes are in good working order though many don't see regular use, partially due to a bunch of them being older mountain bikes we got specifically to bring to a youth summer camp my brother and I volunteer for so they only get dusted off once a year.
No photos since the collection is spread across three households at this point but it would be interesting to get everything together in one spot.
As a side note, the oldest bike in the collection is from the 50's while the newest is I think from around 2015.

My ‘collection’ of 5 normal sized bikes don’t count. I got grief when I had 3 cars, but 5 bikes seems to pass the eco-inspector.

I have 6 cars from ranging in age from 65 to 11 years old, half old American half BMW, plus a 1958 Cushman scooter and 15 or so bikes ranging from Schwinn Stingrays, old beach cruisers, a fat e-bike, Cannondale Trail mountain bike to a relatively modern Cannondale Synapse road bike. In short, too much stuff.

UPDATE: I did get a 3rd car on Tuesday, but it wasn't an Alfa, I decided I needed a car with a fake rear seat so the dogs could ride somewhere if we went someplace overnight in the car. After much contemplating and looking I found a mint condition hardtop convertible 2002 Lexus SC430 with a Twilight Amethyst Pearl (deep Purple) paint job and a small 4.3 V8 and with only 53,000 miles on it. Found it at a Lexus dealership who did all the maintenance on the car since it was sold new to an older individual who went into a nursing home so he sold the car back to the dealership. It's like a brand new car. The dealership ran a complete diagnosis on the car before deciding to sell it on their lot or wholesaling it out, but everything checked out superb so they put it in their showroom at below market price, I saw it pop up on the computer, and was down there the next day. The rear seats are real seats, but I'm 6 foot tall, with the seat my seat back to where I can drive comfortably there is zero leg space, so I call them fake rear seats.

Drove it 220 miles back home while my friend drove my car, it ran extremely smooth, I won't be able to work on as much of it as I could have with the Alfa, but it should be a lot more reliable. Plus the Alfa's were all averaging $10k more than what I paid for the Lexus, while I was ready to spend the money for one, the tightwad side of me is happier with the Lexus price!

One of my friends who collects cars thinks that the Lexus sc430 could become a classic car, they're already seeing a slight upward trend in prices on those cars. I picked mine up for under 10k but everywhere else they were higher with similar or more miles. One I saw today a Lexus dealer wanted $29k? Not sure what their reasoning was on that price other than it had 35k miles on it, but still.

So no more cars for me, my wife warned me this one was it. She doesn't want me to start another collection, LOL, ahh, the married life!

Loud noises hurt more as I get older so I try to stay as far from that bell as possible.
