Buying a TT bike

is not enough. You actually have to ride it. Did the Chain of Lakes TT yesterday, and totally sucked.

8 mile TT, so I figured it should be under 20 minutes, and I would target 105% of FTP. Ended up averaging 87% of FTP.

It was the second race of the day which could have had an effect, but I'm guessing only two real rides on the TT bike might have had something to do with the power production.

Definitely. Work on your flexibility too itll help you get into better position w/o sacrificing power. Actually riding on the bike work best though

2-3 days a week minimum. 3 hours on mine yesterday. Those long rides really help.

Unless you are adapted to the position on your TT bike, your road bike FTP will not be the same as your FTP on your TT bike. I experienced that last year and worked hard to get them close. I still lose about 5-8 watts when I am on my TT bike, but it's getting closer.

Yeah, Ii know I need to ride it more. I just don't like to. And yesterday's TT was more for training than for a goal. But it tells me I definitely go to step up time on the TT bike.

Take months off any physical sport, jump back in, and you're not going to like it. Give it 3 days a week for a month. If you're position isn't totally f'd it'll start to feel like a pair of old slippers.
