Shimano Wide Shoes Anyone
Anyone using wide shimano road shoes? I am looking to try a different shoe, supplies are tough for wide shoes. I can get Shimano, RC7 in wide for a decent price. If anyone using them or any shimano wide shoes how do you like them? I am a size 12ish with wide foot but not crazy wide.
I know shoes are very personal but I have never had shimano shoes before. I am normally a lake shoe person but prices are pretty high on Lake these days.
thanks

Bontraguer Wide Road Shoe!
I need a wide shoe. Bontraguer Velocis work for me. Lightweight and come with a single boa adjustment. Wide sizes were only available in black when I got mine. Not cheap.

Bikes: A few older US made Cannondales, a modern Soma Saga (no longer made, alas!), and one gifted crabon Specialized. Never enough.

I wear lower end Shimano road shoes (don’t recall the model, but they were less than $100) in 48 wide and find them to be wide enough for my not excessively wide feet My issues with shoes usually involves blowing out the side of the toe box area. I even find their non-wide touring last shoes to be wide enough, as long as I am careful with sock choices (usually not an issue in warmer months). Not sure if this helps.

I do appreciate the insight. I don't have crazy wide but I want to be comfortable. I found Giro HV (wide) to be taller but not wider at all. So I am just cautious on wide.
I can return the Shimano if I try them no issue but hate to go through that game in the end if I don't have too.

I have 11-1/2 feet in EEEE, usually a 46 Euro. I’m on my 4th pair of Shimano shoes over many years, my current are XC701, dual Boa. They weren’t cheap but they were worth it as they are the most comfortable shoe I’ve worn to date.

Another vote for CX238s in wide. I tried a few shoes before landing in the 238 and I love them. The wide is actually wide unlike other brands.

I appreciate all the input, really do. I ordered a pair of the Shimano just have to try them. If they are a no go I will exchange for a pair of Lake. I just don't wanna pay Lake prices but yeah I fear I will have to anyways.

I have a wide foot--EE. I wear Shimano wide shoes, but even then I get a pair a half size larger, and they are barely wide enough. I have to lace them very loose so they will be as wide as they can get.

this actually give me a little hope, I am just an E wide so I am hoping. But if not I will back to Lake. I got some flashy Shimano so I hope they work. they are blingy as the kids say.

Interesting experience. I’ve a pair of the Lake MXZ304 Wide winter boots. They are not as comfortable, even with a thin sock, as any Shimano wide shoe I’ve worn. I’ve heard that Sidi has comfortable wide shoes and would have tried a set, but they are overpriced in my opinion. Bottom line is you need to try stuff on, can’t mail order shoes,

Yep, I totally get it. Shoes are very personal, I know its hard to compare online but I really do appreciate the info. I am eager to try the Shimano, nervous but eager!

I have 8 1/2 EEE width feet. I did not know Shimano made wide shoes, to be honest. I have used 43 normal width Shimano shoes for over 20 years, and they fit me just fine.

Lake has 3 different width lasts, with wider outsoles. The shoes are much more stable. But, you do have to figure out which last works for you. The high-end Lake wides are still too narrow for me, so I cannot run them. Lake also tends to use stiffer upper materials, which take time to break in. Shimano is much softer.

I have a wide foot and have been trying new shoes. Narrowed it down to Lake 238s, Bont and shimano RC1 or RC3. Almost went for the shimano RC1 but I thought I'd give the Lakes another try. In the end it was a no-brainer, went with the Lakes even though they were nearly twice the price of the RC1s

Regarding the Lakes, I measured my foot twice as per their website guidelines and they still aren't wide enough for me according to their charts.

Your feet must be crazy wide, because Lakes are about the widest option around.
I have a few pairs of custom and semi-custom Riivos. They're expensive, but totally worth it.

UPDATE
Got my new kicks today. Super nice, I am actually impressed. The width is actually just a touch more narrow than the lake I think, but my lakes are so broken in they are pretty darn close I think. I am not regretting getting them at all. Feel great. I probably will never spring for a pair of lakes again just because of the cost barring these don't have issues. I am a happy camper! Boa is pretty nice never had that system before and that is very nice too.

I'm glad you're happy with your new shoes. I got a pair of these Lakes for father's day. https://lakecycling.com/products/cx-...12697168773214
They work better for me than the Shimano shoes. The Shimano's are a high volume shoe, I need a wider last, which is how Lake makes it's shoes for wide feet.
Hope you put in lots of fun miles
