Screeching rear brake

My wife has a Trek SLR 6, which she bought last summer. It probably has less than 1000 miles on it. When she went for a ride yesterday the rear brake screeched loudly at the point where the bike came to a full stop. Just slowing down the brake makes no noise. The LBS bled the brakes last summer twice until they got it right. Could some hydraulic fluid have gotten onto the brake pad to cause this noise? What are some other possible causes? Thanks

one of these? if any hydraulic fluid got on the pads , buy new replacements..

you can buy pads from aftermarket companies.. [Kool Stop/ Swiss Stop and others.. )

Many... make them to be interchangeable .. with OEM parts picks .. for the calipers..

I have the 2018 Domane SL5 Hydraulic Disc bike....I seldom use the front brake...sometimes I notice a slight squeal after riding awhile and using the front brake. Believe the disc gets a light coating of contaminants and it squeals while it gets rubbed off. Hard to imagine this would happen with the rear though since it probably gets used regularly.

Sometimes it’s oil or dirt. I clean my disc brakes weekly with a dry cloth, sometimes I use a degreaser. It helps.

Disc brakes can screech badly if the pads are worn out and it is time to replace them (I'd even say, past the time to replace - metal base of the pads starts scraping the disc surface and this causes the sound). 1000 miles seems unusually short distance for this to happen, also, front brake pads normally wear much faster, still, you might want to check the wear on the break pads.

Most often the squeal is from corrosion between the pad and piston. Try some brake squeal paint. its ALWAYS solved squeal problems on any disk brake I have had to deal with.

Permatex in the blue can is my old favorite.
