I have some Camelbak podiums and they leak just a little where the lid meets the body. Are they known for this? Has anyone else had this issue? the bottles are probably 6 months old and used a lot. Thanks

I have many Podiums (mostly chills and ices probably 8 or so) and have never had a leak anywhere except maybe in a bag with the valve open and it got squeezed but I don't do that anymore.

I assume you have made sure everything is tight and tried swapping lids to other bottles? If so I would reach out to Camelbak and tell them the problem and see what they say.

Putting them in the dishwasher can really help to get them to leak.

All of mine do now, to some extent.

Have you cross-threaded the lid? Check for no gap between the body and lid when the lid is fully screwed on.

I’ve had that issue with a different bottle but not with my Camelbak bottles.

I will say that I just bought a couple off of Amazon but almost did not because of the number of reviews complaining about this very thing.

+1. Just got done with a two-week tour. No leaking.

Screw the lids on tightly.

I only got one about 3 weeks ago and last time I used it I noticed it leaked from the lid where it joins, must admit wasn't too impressed and it's meant to be a chill one but after 1 1/2 hrs in warm weather having started with ice in with the water it's lukewarm ...... my experience says they're not all their cracked up to be!!

Never use a dishwasher, and make sure there's no grit or anything between where the lid and bottle seal. You have to twist them tight to get them to seal.

I have a few that are 3 years of hard gravel rides old, and don't leak. They look ugly, but they don't leak.

As noted, screwing the lid on hard is key. If you don't, they will leak.

I fill mine 3/4 full and put it in the freezer overnight. Before the ride I top it off with cold water. Stays cold for a long time. I've been doing that with the same bottle for twelve years. No leaks, ever.

Thanks for the points. I called Camelbak and they said "send them back" .... my eyes were rolling....
Im just gonna try screwing lids on harder and maybe sanding the tops of the bottles for flatness.
I like the bottles but this leaking has just started and its kinda annoying.

send em, back... oh right ,.... so you can trash the old ones and send me new ones...... that's cool.... not

Heh. One of mine leaked this morning when I went to take a sip before heading to work. Why? Because I hadn't made that last little turn to completely tighten the lid. Once I did, no more leaking.

I again say user error.

Ill try em again today and see what's up. Lid's are always tightened on good in my case. Might be some dishwasher warping, but I think that have been in the dishwasher a total of 3 times so that might not be it. Anyway will try again. Certainly not sending em back yet :-) ha.. #fixem

+1. I have a podium that I freeze as the second bottle for long rides. No leaks even with the many freeze/thaw cycles. I never put any plastic bottles in the dishwasher. I clean them with a mix of diluted bleach (which I shake and then squeeze through the cap valve), rinse with warm water, and then air dry.

After two 50mile trips, with the lids checked and double checked, yep leaking on the bike at the lid to bottle seam. Only small amounts.

Bummer, wish there was a fix for this.

I did go back and re-try mine today .... I did it up as you'd normally do and shook and it leaked ... I twisted that bit harder and it didn't so maybe it does need to be tighter than any normal water bottle before it bites.

If so it's fine for my use but I wouldn't pay the extra for the chill again and in which case you might as well buy a more generic well known make for £3.50 instead of the £12 I paid for this.

Honestly not a problem for me but I think anyone else considering purchasing should consider if they're actually getting anything better for the premium paid for something that .......... holds water ... personally I don't think so.

I have about 15 of these bottles, no leaks at all no matter which lid-to-bottle combo I use. I run them through the dishwasher with no problems... going on 4 years now for some of them

Interesting idea. If I can figure out which surface is at fault I can probably fix without adding material. ie the top lip of bottle might be out of plat and not sealing, or out of round.

I recently bought a Podium Big Chill, as I was sick of my leaking Polar bottle.

After two long rides, it has yet to leak. I like the Podium lid mechanism better than other push/pull type lids.
