There's a classic German beverage called Radler (short for Radlermass) that is a 50/50 mix of beer and lemon soda intended for cyclists (a Radler being a cyclist). Very light and refreshing, and just what a cyclist needs after a ride. Or during. Maybe even before, or instead. I suspect this stein was intended for imbibing a Radler or two.
Anyways, I had another odd beverage character glass - think to have offed it to another forum member at a C&V event. I forget the details but was Kermit and Cookie monster(??) from the Muppets riding bikes. Nothing makes sense. Lol

I spent altogether too much time looking for a Rat Fink character on a bicycle, however, all I could find is Rat Fink on a skateboard.

Tentation:
1 archaic : temptation
1 archaic : temptation
2 : a mode of adjusting or operating by successive steps, trials, or experiments
My vocabulary word for the day. We could use that term a lot around here, were it to make a comeback. I'm in a constant state of "Tentation" on almost all of my bikes, always tweaking something or swapping out components between bikes.

Interest in this compound as a blood pressure drug eventually stopped, and a different indication was sought. That compound is now widely known as Viagra.

If you hadn't captioned this one, I would have sworn it was a Bikeyface cartoon.
Par for the era. After killing off protected bike lanes, Foresterites came up with this type of stuff to encourage 8-year-olds to vehicular cycle in 35 mph traffic. And it still gets thrown around today...

So Cap’n, I’m a kid looking for a strong bike. You say a Schwinn is strong in so many ways? A strong bike is good. I’ve always wanted the strongest bike around. Lightness, speed and looks are all overrated.

Actually, I was kind of spoiled, though I shared bikes (Huffy and Triumph) until I was able to buy my own. I just came back from visiting Cuba, and they get more use out of a heavy duty bike made in the early 1900’s than most would ever dream of. Sorry, that’s off topic.

"Nice Beatle boots, Mr. Kangaroo, or shall I call you 'Captain'?" Or are those Doc Martens? Odd footwear for a seagoing man.
Strong bikes were a concern back then, kids actually wore things out in those days. On my stingray back then, I loosened all the spokes in my rear wheel from torquing it out, plus broke the steel stem from pulling on it. Wore holes in the knees of my pants like crazy. Summer was a long three months, plus riding to school and after school. Good times ..

Yes, definitely for parents wanting to make a lasting investment to stretch their dollar. Nothing wrong with that, but not a kid’s dream. This ad all but says, “This bike can be handed down to every child in your large family. Imagine how happy they all will be!” And Captain Kangaroo is there to help, Haha! (I thought he was my friend as a child.)

Are you sure those weren't relatively recent Forever or Flying Pigeons in Cuba? They look like any other DL-1 from the last 100 years...

Ironically enough, that's somewhat my point in a thread I posted just today - I'm trying to justify (mainly to myself) that refurbishing C&V electroforged Schwinn Pixies and Bantams for a kids' bike rodeo fleet makes more sense than using current junk.
