Shoe/pedal combination for flat feet

Finally found a decent combination, New Balance skater shoes and race face Chester flatties. For the record, I have 13 EE shoes. I was born with flat feet. Just did 15 miles and I liked it.

If you have "flexible flat feet," a diagnosis delivered to me by my surgeon with the indignation usually reserved for pronouncements such as "you have emphysema thanks to a lifetime of chain-smoking," the problem is you have arches that collapse as you put weight on them. If this is the case, rather aggressive arch support in the shoes can really help.

Arch supportive insoles .. like superfeet ..(?) have a variety of arch heights..

then once you have the insoles, go try on shoes.. in person..

The BEST thing you can do is to go and see a podiatrist. I'm lucky as my bike club has a podiatrist that also is the team podiatrist for the local university bike team. My feet were killing me after short rides. Got new shoes and had the podiatrist make orthotic insoles for me and I've never had a problem since. Lots of shoe companies also make insoles that you can try, like Specialized, or go to a running store and try some of the Superfeet as recommended, but the best, if you can afford it or your insurance covers it, is to go see a podiatrist and take in your shoes.

Are your "flat feet," and not age-related loss of fatty padding tissue, the issue? I do a lot of walking and some cycling and jogging, and I am in a lot of pain if I do not have decent cushioning gel inserts in my shoes, even the lightweight slip-ons I wear indoors. (Living on a western-style concrete slab instead of a raised foundation doesn't help. )

I wonder if good old school touring platform pedals would help, although the ones you show should function similarly.

Shimano 5800 pedals, blue spd-sl cleats, Giro Trans shoes, and most importantly, the custom footbeds out of my ski boots left over from my ski instructor days.

Those footbeds solved a lot of problems I was having.

Btw, I've had flat feet probably since birth.
